Billy Beck: The Hive Of The Mandarins

From Billy Beck:
"Another ten years of this, and large tracts of America will be Third World. Not Somalia-scale Third World, but certainly the more decrepit parts of Latin America. There will still be men with motorcades, but they’ll have heavier security and the compounds they shuttle between will be more heavily protected. For them and their cronies, the guys plugged in, the guys who still know who to call to figure out a workaround through the bureaucratic sclerosis, life will be manageable, and they’ll still be wondering why you loser schlubs are forever whining about gas prices, and electricity prices, and food prices."
(Mark Steyn)

"Ten years". In the span of history, it's the breadth of a single sigh. >snap< It goes by just like that.

What you have now are not the architects of this tottering Gothicity, but rather the blind termites who've grown up in its walls, floors, chairs, and bullet-proof glass, eating their daily ways through it all as if it simply grew there out of the forest before they were hatched. Not knowing or caring of its source, they just eat where they live, and react with hive-instinct at every effort to inhibit their pestilence upon human life.

There will be "another ten years of this", because there is almost no serious philosophical understanding of any of it, and that's why there can be no serious political action on it: politics is a logically derivative branch of philosophy, and principles will always have their way.

Shit! Oh Dear.

I am not an economist but I can not conceive of this slow downward spiral continuing for another decade. Though, I must admit that I am amazed at the fact that TPTB have been able to continue to prop-up this house of cards as long as they have already.

The fact of the matter is that the longer it takes to finally fall the uglier it will be.

Yeah, ten more years of Big Brother getting bigger and meaner every day?
What's worse, Big Brother with Butch Nappy at the helm, or a complete financial meltdown followed by utter chaos?
I think I'll pick door #2.

Exactly! I'm glad someone else gets it.

Philosophical change is where activism should be directed if it is to have any hope of being effective.

Geez...America, you're breaking my heart.

Between "Atlas Shrugged, Part I" on opening day and the linked article of Steyn's I'm about out of Kleenex.

Do you think if the philosophically brain dead critics from the "State Entertainment Institute" who panned "Atlas" ever had a moment of clarity and re-watched that film (and hence recommended it), that it's 'message' (pro-free markets/anti big-gov & crony-capitalism) it could change the political bent of the country????

I know, I've been drinking too much wishful-thinking flavored Kool-aid.
