For the children.
To keep us safe.
And this proposed FedGov online identity plan will help, as well.

Looks like time to ugrade and strengthen my crypto software.
For all of the fed.gov's attention to cyber security (and, just for the moment, I'll take them at their word), this leaves completely unaddressed the issue of protecting our entire country - specifically the electrical grid - from either an EMP strike or a massive solar storm. Fail to protect us in that way, and literally nothing else matters, because 90% of us will be dead within a year. Anyone with doubts should read "One Second After" or "Lights Out" by Halffast (coming out soon in book form). This is not a joking matter, and it concerns me more than the oppressive state - at least we as a nation have some possibility of recovering from that. An EMP strike will leave the 30 million or so survivors mourning their losses and having to deal with the Russian and Chinese troops who will be able to leisurely fly in and occupy a resource-rich, population poor and defenseless nation.
Gotta love the symbols on the shield in the claws of the eagle soaring above a digitized simulacrum of the world.
...Crossed Blades and the Power of lightning share space above the Key.
We need to start coming up with our own wi-fi net structure. Can't be that hard, a transceiver, power source, computer relay... hard part's going to be the program used and the encryption.
