They Hate Us Because We Are Free

Watch the video above of a Missouri SWAT raid for marijuana.

Read Balko's commentary, along with the reader comments.

Do you understand yet?

And events like this, boys and girls, is why the cops aren't trusted to uphold the law or treat people fairly.

Thanks to Radley at the AGITATOR this video has gone viral on youtube.

A moderate sized American city with a preponderance of the voters saying they want cannabis decriminalized and this is how the police conduct business.....it is not about officer safety or ridding our streets of the scourge of drugs. THIS IS ABOUT INTIMIDATION!!!

What the video does not show is that one of the dogs they shot was in a kennel. So the argument that the officers felt threatened is bogus.

Also watch closely the lack of empathy demonstrated by these goons. It is inhuman. Like robots. Like emotionless drones playing a video game.

Apparently these guys haven't gotten the memo from Stewart Rhodes about keeping to their oath....you know, like the one that is supposed to protect the citizens from "unreasonable searches and seizures" ....unless of course, you consider it reasonable to conduct police business in this manner. Oh and they do! Read the comments on police forums. They find it completely reasonable to smash through doors, shoot dogs, point guns at citizens and terrorize women and children because daddy smokes cannabis. The law is the law and they are just following orders.

Then after the state commits these egregious acts of terror they have the gall to charge the parents with "endangerment of a child". It is the height of outrage when the state can claim that a plant that grows in God's green earth is somehow more dangerous than a bunch of goons in state issued costumes shooting guns inside a home occupied by a family with child.

Do you think this child will grow up to respect those who wear the uniform of police? Do you think this couple will continue to believe we live in a free country? Does this engender a sense of security that the government derives its powers from the consent of the people?

A free people would not tolerate this type of insane conduct from those who are sworn to serve and protect. A benevolent government would hold this type of behavior as outrageous and unacceptable.

Remember as you consider all of this that it was not an anomaly but standard operating procedure. These types of raids happen 100-150 times a day across the land of the free. And do you think they will be any less aggressive when they want to take you guns?

These are NOT law enforcment officers.

They ARE STATE SPONSORED DOMESTIC TERRORISTS.

These state sponsored domestic terrorists are FAR more damaging and a threat than Al Quida or Islamic terrorists.

If I ever have to listen to my dog scream like that, I can't answer for my reactions and behavior towards those that caused it.

This vid shows that America doesn't have a "Drug War." It has harmless people being assaulted and terrorized by armed paramilitaries acting as "police." It's hardly a "war" if the victims don't fight back and the aggressors are acting under color of law.

America _will_ have a "Drug War" when people start deciding they aren't going to stand for this kind of abuse and SWAT teams on drug raids start taking casualties. I don't know when, or even if, that will ever happen, but if it does, that will be an interesting day.

If the dog had been subdued without being killed would your reactions be so negative?

Happy D, You ask an excellent question!

Seems most folks are more pissed off about the puppycide than the raw show of lawlessness and the disregard for constitutional protections.

It is a is sad fact about the dog no doubt but the underlying premise that goons with badges can storm a home with full military gear in what we think is a "free country" is at the heart of this problem.

This not what the Founders had in mind when they set this thing in motion. It was supposed to be government by the consent of the governed. Not: You Will Obey Your Overlords or Die or be Sent to Prison.

OF COURSE! That was just insult added
to injury, to put it VERY mildly.

I hope that you do not SERIOUSLY think that the level of outrage being expressed is solely due to the dog killing.

If so, you need to catch up.

I sincerely believe that you are a better man than to think that, but there are such things as last straws on camel's backs to consider. Some things go beyond the pale.

Remember the mayor back east whose dogs were shot? That was the same thing, outrage piled on outlandish outrage. I have cop friends who are
appalled at the JBT ninjas. They do not want the retribution to fall on them. They do a righteous job.

These guys and gals are firm but courteous in their dealings with the
rest of us. But they also have a saying that keeps them polite and aware of their risk:

"Head shots defeat body armor..."

May God help our honest cops. This type of thing will only ensure that
the evil will be punished along with the good. That would be a shame.

From another blog post (at Jaded Haven) and comments on this same incident, I give you this from a lawyer styled:

mahons

"Daphne – They had the basis for a valid warrant, and sometimes the dope isn’t there. You’ll note even the homeowner’s lawyer isn’t arguing he represents some innocent guy. His home wasn’t targeted at random.

According to the Police Department who was interviewed by the free press they followed all the protocols. To further indicate the lack of tyranny: there is a full Internal Affairs Investigation when, as here, there is a discharge of weapons isnide a dwelling. The homeowner has a right to contest the charges (he copped a plea) and he can bring a civil suit in the Courts.

Moreover, people who wish to protest the event can petition the government for redress, stage rallies, write letters to editors and government officials, speak to the media, hold candlelight vigils, vote for politicians who promise to address their concerns, publish books condemning the police and blog to their heart’s content in protest of the police actions here.

In other words, police state this ain’t."

To which I replied:

Jon the Hunter

"Mahons,

and all such apologists, obfuscators, legalists and tyranny enablers can go straight to Hell, where we shall shortly be forced to send all our oppressors and their thugs.

Come through my door and start shooting my family members, which includes my dogs, and I will kill you.

Jon

III

WE ARE EVERYWHERE"

To which I got this response:

"mahons

Jon the Hunter – No doubt your dogs are among your family members, probably the most distinguished ones."

Well... couldn't let that stand so I replied:

"Jon the Hunter

Mahons…

“First thing we do is, we kill all the lawyers.”

Come say it to my face, you who are not fit to be the son of a bitch.

That I have enough love in my heart to include my dogs as family speaks volumes about me, as does your lame attempt to twist that into an insult speak the same for you.

I’ll preempt you: Violence is said to be the last refuge of the the ignorant. Perhaps. It is most certainly the very last refuge of the coward, which you most certainly are.

“Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.”

R. A. Heinlein

Enjoy what remains of your supercilious sanctimony.

We Are Everywhere"

A very interesting thread with many comments supporting my position and critical of the asshole. Other threepers identifying themselves as such also.
Read it all here:

BTW, if you are unfamiliar with "Daphne" the writer at Jade Haven, she is one of us and a wonderful word smith of a very high order.

...head shots, rifle rounds and shots to the pelvic area are all show stoppers.

When the bullies get bloodied they wont want to be bullies anymore.

The right of self defense/self preservation precede any others.

He who waits to determine if the "raid is "lawful" will likely end up dead. Shoot first and let them count the bodes afterward.

Pete and everyone:

I do not advocate violence against LEO's or anyone else unless they threaten my life, liberty, or property, so let that be my disclaimer. However, there may come a time to protect yourself from armored home invaders or criminals of any ilk. Badges or not...

Let me add to the comments made by myself and others:

I won't tip my hand by discussing strategies or tactics in depth, but I suggest that y'all read Pete's link to bulletproof me.com. (Lifetek armor is another source). Level 4 armor is something that the average guy with his bedside 1911, .357 or 12 gauge with 00 buck will not penetrate. An M16 or AK clone will not, either, at least not without several rounds.

Just learn what body armor and helmets are all about, and remember that you should train to fire at the soft spots. A .30-06 Garand or FAL or M1A in .308 will require a coupla well placed rounds to go thru Level 4. The old center mass training fails with lesser weapons. Got that?

Of course, if you have a .300 WinMag or a .338 Lapua? Think one good initial round from either (IF you have time) and then drop it and go to another weapon more suited to CQB? Hmm...

I'd like to add that it is a frikkin' SHAME that our society and our gov't has devolved to the point that we should even have to discuss such matters. Really.

I'd much rather discuss Harleys, hot rods, honeys and of course, guns.

But the guns part in a very different context. Not like this.

I'm getting too old fer this crap, but not so old that I ain't still a force ta be reckoned with from "grabbing the belt" to over 1200 meters. And I am far from alone in those respects.

Which part of "Leave Us The Hell Alone" or "Shall Not Be Infringed" is so damned difficult to comprehend?

Heinlein's concept of "rational anarchism" is sounding more and more appealing with the passage of time. (WOW, did I just say that?) :D

- Tom, III

(BTW, forgive some of the continuity breaks in my last post. In editing it to remove the outright ranting, I failed to consider the effects of said editing.)
