TEOTWAWKI Top 100 Shortage List

Available courtesy of DCHandgunInfo, nicely timed before the Zombacalypse and its follow-on FEMA 'rescue' augment.

Got hard goods?

You're gonna need 'em.

Thanks for the link! It's really good to have a nice, organized list of stuff that's known to disappear *real quick*, and compare it to what we already have stashed away.

Sorry, but this is a dumb list. Mostly it contains items that someone will need for a long camping trip. If there is a collapse of this nation's government, the main service that will be required is protection from thieves and bandits. The best plan under such circumstances would be to unite with trusted friends, neighbors, and family and form a your own band. Guns will come in handy. Other than that, a patch of land on which you could grow potatoes, radishes, and other edible goods will also be handy. The rest of this list is mainly luxury items.

Seriously: shaving cream, mouse poison, and roach spray? Not shaving will not kill you and if you're really hungry, then you might want those critters to be poison free.

Getting out of DC (or any urban area) might be item #0 on such a list.

(that's the new math)

At least people have kept "the list" down to 100 despite it circulating for at least 5 years now. Keep in mind the things that disappear don't always mesh up with the things you really need.

After doing all the prepping, planning and work, and the SHTF, it will be nice to finally have my family on board with me on it. I cannot tell you how much FUN it is to do this stuff alone. Wait'll they find out how things will be rationed..............

Appreciate the link. For those unfamiliar with it, my blog is more than just info for the citizens of D.C. I write about news -- often shooting-related, but not necessarily -- and have links galore. My wish is that my blog helps the novice approach the shooting sports intelligently and safely. And if this helps suppress D.C.'s crime problem, so much the better.

Seen this before. I think it was written by someone who survived the Balkan unpleasantness in the 90's and so is impacted somewhat by that perspective. Still useful with some modifications...

If you don't like it, disregard. Go buy some flamethrowers and tractors or whatever you think you need more.
But for some people it's a starting point to getting organized. And for those that can't organize, this is just the cat's meow. The key here is moderation and adaptation. And you never know what a person can use for trade goods.
I quit smoking a decade ago but would love to buy several cases of tobacco products, just for trade. Liquor too. You can name your price for that stuff, just make sure you have the firearms to keep the place from being looted. We have thousands of horses around here that owners won't be able to take care of, a little trade and I got new wheels!!!
