Hentoff: Obama's Euthanizing Of The Fourth Amendment

This article by long-time Constitutional rights advocate Nat Hentoff is worth your time, especially in conjunction with these references he cites:

9/27/10 NYT Article by Charlie Savage

Olmstead vs. United States, 277 US 438 (1928)

Wiki on Olmstead

Text of BoR Fourth Amendment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Two closing questions for the audience:

Are you today "...secure in [your] persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures"?

What are you willing to do about it, especially given that all three branches of government (executive, legislative, judicial) at all three levels of governance (local, state, Federal) have been part of the euthanizing campaign in the eighty years since Olmstead?

As of this writing, I have no idea who will be the Republican presidential candidate in 2012, but I'm not aware that any of the potential leading Republican candidates are impassioned about the Fourth Amendment.

Only Ron Paul if only the following would be a true indicator.

This is quoted from one of the articles.
Steven M. Bellovin, a Columbia University computer science professor, pointed to an episode in Greece: In 2005, it was discovered that hackers had taken advantage of a legally mandated wiretap function to spy on top officials’ phones, including the prime minister’s.

“I think it’s a disaster waiting to happen,” he said. “If they start building in all these back doors, they will be exploited.”

I think that this is a important line of thought to follow, Now I´m not a Hacker in any since of the word, I just learned about Spell Check not to long ago. BUT I´m sure that there are some of us that have the talents and skills to listen in on them also. Kinda like the good for the Goose and the Gander if you know what I mean.

This law is something that will probably be passed even if not during Obumers term remember it was a Republican President and Co. that gave us the PATRIOT ACT. But look who´s using it now.

This is just ONE MORE example of why it is so important to ether Restore the Constitution, or Rebuild a New Nation, One that the First Duty is to Protect the Personal Liberties of her Citizens. I think that would make the Founders of this once Great Nation Proud.

I'm gonna vote like I've never voted before! If everyone just voted for Republicans, there wouldn't be a problem, you know? It's those darn liberals! Granted, voting hasn't worked to preserve or restore freedom in the past 230 years . . . but maybe it'll work this time!

I don't get mad about this stuff anymore.

I get out on the streets with guns.

You should to.

The more people get out on the streets with their guns, the less likely this next constitutional violation is to take place.

TPTB do NOT want the citizenry, especially the justifiably outraged citizenry, to be out in force with their firearms. It makes them nervous. It has an effect on them.

I tried to find the Obama quote, from the One Nation mini-rally last weekend, about world leaders who prevent prosperity and freedom by micromanaging the people's business. Maybe someone who doesn't mind using Google can come up with it. The CEO of Google, as you may know, says "We know what you're thinking" based on your Google search patterns. I use Goodsearch instead now. You can designate your favorite charity to receive a portion of their proceeds. It's smaller and less flashy than Google, but adequate for most things.

Brock, It a shame that the establishment GOP despises Ron Paul. But then again, its now becoming a badge of honor to be a republican that IS despised by the establishment GOP. :) Ron Paul has been fighting for our God given/Constitutionally protected rights for over 30 years. And of course, that is the very reason why the GOP hates him so much. He's most certainly NOT a go-along-to-get-along type a guy.

as for the Fourth Am...

I only wish that this false "war on terror" (facade of the tyrant) was clearer in the minds of Patriots. Many hearts are in the right place but their minds have been taken.
