The Collapse: State & Local Governments Get Hammered
Read both of these links re falling tax receipts as the Collapse continues:

Mish: Precipitous Drop In State Tax Collections
Two observations:
1) Local crime will continue to go up, as fewer cops deal with more desperate folks.
2) Until their credit is cancelled by world capital markets, the Mighty Kenyan and his Feds will use this situation to gain even more control over the governments that impact you in your daily lives.
This will not end well.

I doubt that. Fewer cops means fewer executions, rapes, unjustified taserings, dynamic entries, and other horrors committed upon innocents by those cops. Fewer cops means less manpower to collect and analyze evidence of victimless non-crimes, like unreported armed self-defense. Thieves really don't like to confront armed citizens desperate to keep their stuff.
