Living in an Imperial World: That Could Never Happen in America

Hat-tip to David Codrea at War on Guns for this story re our nation's capital:

***
Under an executive order expected to be announced today, police Chief Cathy L. Lanier will have the authority to designate “Neighborhood Safety Zones.” At least six officers will man cordons around those zones and demand identification from people coming in and out of them. Anyone who doesn’t live there, work there or have “legitimate reason” to be there will be sent away or face arrest, documents obtained by The Examiner show.

Lanier has been struggling to reverse D.C.’s spiraling crime rate but has been forced by public outcry to scale back several initiatives including her “All Hands on Deck” weekends and plans for warrantless, door-to-door searches for drugs and guns.

Under today’s proposal, the no-go zones will last up to 10 days, according to internal police documents. Front-line officers are already being signed up for training on running the blue curtains...

More from the WaPo here:

***
When D.C. police begin stopping cars at a "checkpoint" this weekend in the Trinidad neighborhood, they will record all license plate numbers, verify residents' addresses and ask others for phone numbers of those they are visiting, according to a directive issued by Chief Cathy L. Lanier...
***

Note also that:

***
...Officers will begin training today on the checkpoints. They will be taught, for example, that pedestrians are not subject to screening.

Motorists who resist will be arrested for failure to obey an officer. The department will keep the collected information...
***

Remember, folks - the object of this exercise is, among other things, gun possession.

Good thing these ideas would never be used where the white voters lived.

Like your neighborhood.

Welcome to Neu Amerika, or, if you prefer, the "United Socialist States of America".

"...will be arrested for failure to obey an officer."

What the h311?!?!? Has it come to the point that police directives have the force of law? If the officer tells me to lick his boots and I refuse can I be arrested for "failure to obey and officer"?
