We Are Israel

Food for thought from Rivrdog, who reminds us that other freedom-loving people have found themselves in the same sinking boat American freedom-lovers occupy today:

***
...This morning, I thought about the R2KBA, and the Second Amendment, and the upcoming Heller trial in the Supreme Court. I thought about my novel, which centers on the R2KBA and the armed defense of that Right. I thought about the growing attitude of persecution of those who dare to think of using arms to hold on to the Founders' Dream, as stated in our Constitution. I thought about fighting for that Dream. I felt dread.

Then it hit me. All these thoughts and feelings aren't new. They have been felt before, by two groups of people we know of, and know of well, if we studied our history at all.

The first is our Revolutionary forebears, but more recently than them, the Israelis...

Read the whole thing, please.

No, we are not Israel, because Israel is an entity that only serves one group of people. If they are to rule they would be no better then Hitler Third Reigh, because the Israelis believe to be superior human beings to others (with the exception of the Reconstructionists). They discriminate on the basis of ethnicity and religion. Israel declares itself a Jewish State, denying the rights of those who are not Jewish, whereas Christian, muslim, pagan, etc. If this is an acceptable practice, let's declare USA a Christian State! But, that will not happen because unlike Israel, the United States of America is based on principles of freedom, democracy and equal rights for all.

Israel is nothing like us, and we are nothing like them.

This has nothing to do with religion, though religion makes it easy for people who dislike Israel to play up differences and ignore similarities. Israel is at the frontline, no - Israel IS the frontline in the war against muslim fascism, though the arabs living in Israel are notable less 'islamic' than the crazies elsewhere. Its great to talk about freedom and about it not being free, its a lot tougher to live at the front, as Israel has done for 60-some years.
