Completely in character for someone who voted "present" most of the time in the state senate. No need to make a decision. Just show up and let Valerie handle it.

The man reads speeches from a teleprompter on TV. He's a news anchor. It's not surprising to hear he's a member of a team.
To borrow a phrase, "Do you understand yet?" The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is getting OVERRULED.
Yes yes yes it was absolutely justified. Yes his birth certificate is a forgery with the exact same errors (kerning, tab stops, no chromatic aberration) as in the Dan Rather forgeries. Yes he's an incompetent fool and probably a Muslim and a traitor to exactly the extent he thinks he can get away with it. He's still the President, and he's the one who is supposed to be giving the orders. When various parts of government start believing that it is fine for them to utterly disregard the supreme executive authority and do whatever the hell they want even when they're told "no, don't do it yet" - when they go past belief and pass to ACTING on that belief - that's an extremely important and dangerous precedent. That's a huge step forward in ripping even the pretense of Constitutional government up for good.
Thought #2: it is very very interesting that this claims it was PANETTA who made the decision, given that "The Path to 9/11" pretty strongly indicated it was Panetta that blew the chance to kill bin Laden under Clinton.
Incidentally Beck's piece from yesterday ("Wonders") is excellent, and puts his finger square on exactly why I find this immediately believable.
LP being fairly responsible for 9/11 is what makes me believe this story is accurate. Hillary is going along because she knows they F'd up missing Bin Laden the first time under her Man-Partner's administration. Panetta was making damn sure he did not get blamed a second time around. I think this is crazy on so many levels. Crazy that they had to play a game around Obama, crazy that once the game was played and the mission was in place they "told" the president what was going to happen, and crazy that they had the need to do all of those things to get a job done that is one of the specific duties of the government listed in the Constitution ie protect the country.
We have truely crossed the Rubicon and there is no way out but through.

I do not recall the position of "Advisor to the President" having any executive decision making authority defined in the Constitution of the United States of America.

In an environment where nothing thats happening "feels right" I cant say this doesn't make sense. Something hasn't been right instinctively about this all along.
Not sure how to digest it, am not sure if it makes me think better of our chances or worse.
