More Spewings From The Idiot Dwarf

Mike explains.

And folks, please draw the implicit lesson from the Memphis exercise:

The State Security Forces use constitutionalists and other freedom activists as "mock" terrorists because they can.

Muslim terrorists as the subject of a drill?

Oh no. CAIR and others would eat DHS alive.

MS-13?

Muy problemo.

EarthFirsters and that ecoterror ilk?

Not a chance.

DHS and others can do such drills against "domestic terrorist" boogeymen, because the FreeFor has no credibility in its protests against such calumnies.

No credibility.

They do not fear you in the slightest.

Think about what that means as the temperature in the water increases.

The unorganized FreeFor's are a force to be reckoned with, but not for a drill. We won't show up for an exercise-exercise-exercise, only in a for-real/no-rules event. Good luck in distinguishing the FreeFor from the sheeple, especially in herds.

"They do not fear you in the slightest".

It is foolish to underestimate your opponent. Remember, you're dealing with a human mind, the most dangerous weapon to date.

Just another weakness they have that can be exploited.

I am reminded of the planning in the film, "The Great Raid" when Filipino guerillas are asking to be put in an area that will allow them to take down great numbers of Japanese.

The American officer says, "They'll flank you and destroy you."

The Filipino officer says, "No, they'll come straight at us because they don't respect us."

The Japanese charge straight up the middle, just as the Filipino officer predicts, and are wiped out.

Makes you go, "Hmmmmmmmm...."

If they're not afraid of you, it's easy to get within arm's length. I know all the major arteries, veins and organs.
When they had one of those exercises here, it involved a lot of cops and SWAT operators standing around on the sidewalk with their hands in their pockets. I watched from a bridge over the site...

The point is that the Bad People have been provided with absolutely no reason to believe that.

Point taken, but as the preceding comments indicate, there is some goodness to that.

I second the sentiment: "We won't show up for an exercise-exercise-exercise, only in a for-real/no-rules event."

WD:

Yeah, but can you imagine if the plan to defend the Fulda Gap consisted of
- disorganization,
- wholly inadequate funding and other resources,
- nonexistent secure comms,
- no training of any kind, for all intents and purposes,
- no arty,
- no anti-armor capabilities,
- no anti-air capabilities,
- complete air inferiority,
- thin-to-the-vanishing-point boots on the ground, and
- strategic/tactical quarrels

yet the JCS insisted to SecDef and POTUS that it was all going to come together once Ivan crossed the line?

CA, your point is at least understood, I see at least two issues.

One, today, unlike the Colonial times, most folks are working 10 hour days just to make ends meet. The US government has done a masterful job at setting up that condition and together with inflation that taxes savings has the bulk of the population running hard. That's the "time issue" problem.

Then there's the concentration of forces issue. We Southrons made a huge mistake during our War for Southern Freedom, that mistake was to allow our West Point graduates (both president Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee had graduated from USMA) to engage in set piece battles with large groups of men on open battle fields. The larger Army almost always wins wars of attrition.

Gathering groups of men together will be magnets for US government snoops and Agents Provocateurs, while it's technically broke, the US government can and in fact does fund tens of thousands of these people, enough to literally cover groups of company size and larger. Remember the sad tale of the Viper Militia? That was less than 6 guys, one of which was a volunteer snoop and confidential informant.

See the problems?

I get it, and I do not castigate folks like Anon and WD who are turret-down in the weeds until showtime.

I just want folks to be reality-based in their thinking, not wishful or hopeful.

With the exception of RPG's, this is a fair assessment of the Chechen guerrillas during the First Chechen War.

The total population of Chechnya at the time was 1 million. Many of the men were veterans of the Red Army, but Chechens were considered a security risk and not allowed to fight on the front line. The most successful Chechen commander, Shamil Basaev, was a firefighter in the Red Army.

The only weapons they had were some hunting shotguns and rifles, and whatever they could loot from abandoned Russian armories or capture/trade from the Russians themselves. Going in for the first time, the Russians had no respect for the Chechens.

I'd recommend this documentary if you have not seen it yet. Here's the part that stuck with me most:

"I can tell you that in the condition of dynamic urban warfare, a person could transform himself into a professional soldier in two or three days."

I'm with the Wretched Dog on this.

Never never never never never telegraph your punch.

And that's what showing up for 'exercise/exercise/exercise' does.

The die is cast, and the communists have already crossed the Rubicon.

What I gathered from it:

1 - Homogenous people with strong sense of nationalism provides the 'glue' of unit cohesion.

2 - Self-concept of the average Chechen was that he was a warrior. Not so in the US. Not anymore, anyway. That will be an obstacle.

3 - Commitment is key. Dedication, motivation, and sincere loathing of one's enemy.

4 - MW against AW. Chechen MW attempted to keep the initiative which demoralized the Russians in many instances, including when Chechens could instigate fratricide.

5 - Chechen units relied heavily on "commander's intent" rather than strict orders. "Kill the Russians" was more important than strategic victory. To steal a line from a movie, they wanted to 'kill all they send' for the most part.

6 - Spiritual belief commonality. In this case, Muslim. In the US case, we must renew the sense of at least Judeo-Christian commonality in belief or there will be no 'glue'.

7 - Spritual beliefs defeated fear.

8 - Force multiplication and 'OJT' training team deployment to 'new' groups idea.

9 - Scavanging of newly taken positions/equipment essential.

10 - Tactical errors by AW forces magnified by significant lack of preparation compounded by 'conscription force' mentality.

This is a great documentary to demonstrate what can be done to repel an invading force.

AFAIK, nobody has ever lost an engagement because their enemy underestimated them. The less they fear the patriots, the worse their shock will be when they start getting their asses SHOT OFF by them. And while some patriot groups will be reminiscent of the insurgents in Iraq, many will be lead by (and/or have been trained by) veterans of both the rock pile and the sand box. Since 3 million is approximately 6 to 1 odds against the actual pointy part of the DOD spear, the old principle that "quantity has a quality all its own" will obtain. And those odds do not factor in the effect of an unknown quantity of Oath Keepers.
