When Dealing With Really Bad Guys...
Review this Texas DPS briefing deck on a recent two-hour gunfight in Nuevo Laredo -- warning: very graphic imagery.
Are you planning to carry enough ammo for both your longarm and sidearm?
Are you sure?

Not only "are you planning on carrying enough ammo", but CAN YOU?
I see lots of guys at the range with NICE weapons, but they look incapable of moving around with them for more than a few minutes.
Having tons of ammo is pointless if you can't hump it around in an high intensity situation for a long time.
Two hours. Can you move effectively for two hours with enough ammo for two hours?
Time to drop the twinkies, pass up that extra large coke, and don the ruck, ladies.
Good post, and thanks for the linked document.

Already have enough ammo, and mags for my AK are numbered for monthly mag swap-outs to prevent compressed springs. Inventory shows 14,000 rounds of ammo in reserve. Considering silencers to keep from waking up the neighbors (trying to be considerate) as the drug dealers have tried to take over my neighborhood. What's happening on the Texaco border is just a symptom of what will be (and is) starting to happen here on Main Street America. Like Barney Fife - time to NIP IT IN THE BUD.
When dealing with really bad guys....
Fire from COVER, not a Ford F-150.
Previously noted Mexican incident was an ambush of marked Federale Policia F-150/Expedition vehicles. Are there no Dodge/GMC/Chevy trucks in Mexico? They passed rifle bullets though sheet metal bodies as if made of paper, too.
Wear your helmet.
In a multi-hour incident, there should be re-enforcement and air power. Don't work for a failed State.
Bring a lot of extra ammo in good magazines in attached pouches. Use a rifle heavier than an AR-15 in at least half of the hands on your side. 150 grain FMJ is good at going through light sheet metal and windshields.
Jail is too good for cartel members. Let me say it (not even) first: WAR not "lawr enfercement".
Even more so on our side of the line.
Cheers.
Some analysis of the photos that seem to contradict the provided statments of the documentmaker. The presence of unfired AK rounds is not indicative of stopages or lack of ammo per say. Note the presence in later photos of the plastic mag that has its spring next to it in the photo. The mag appears to have been dropped and shattered throwing unfired rounds all over the place. Odds are it was being passed or being loaded and it was dropped. Lesson is make sure your mags can pass a drop test. The cartel forces sticking around for 2 hours should be an indicator that they had sufficent ammo for at least that lenght engagement. Lesson unless you want your head opened up like a few of those fellows strike quick and fall back quicker.
I was surprised to see that many mags hit by rounds. That in itself may have contibuted to the loss of those individuals.

Now you see the result of what is coming to our homes if it´s not stopped at the so called Border.
The Cartels are here at least in the Frontiera States. The only thing so far, that is stopping these people is.
1. this is where the Money is, you don´t kill your clients and continue to Profit.
2. these kind of scenes on American streets would outrage ALL the American Citizenry and the Government would have to close the border or the Populace would and then there would be Martial law in short order, again not good buisness.
So anyone that thinks they want Open Borders think again.

PS Justin your right 10, 20round mags. a M1-A1 a 1911 and three mags plus 100 degree weather after a couple of hours taking turns at a IDPA event and I´m just about ready for someone to Please Shoot Me. But hay I´m 54 and have lived a life that I am now paying for now with aches and pains in places I did´t know Could Hurt and that´s on good days. But I´m still here and I´ll be There when that time comes or till someone carries me away,or not.
An EFB (Extended Fighting Bag) might be called for. I'm glad I didn't eat yet...
This IS a war. Mexico has all but come apart at the seams from the cartels and what the Mexican government can control.
It does look like the Sinaloa Cartel is going to win out although the Baja Cartel might be able to hold out for awhile because of the proximity to LA/San Diego. South Texas around Brownsville will keep getting more and more interesting as well. The rest of the border area between the coasts will simply see the Sinaloas assert more and more control over American territory willingly ceded over by the traitors.
As for the battle itself: unless you can rapidly defeat the enemy you must get out of the battle. Lone Americans cannot possibly carry enough loaded magazines to sustain such combat. What are you going to do-roll your ammo cans in a Radio Flyer?
If you're going to be trapped, seek the most fortified area you can that forces the enemy to funnel their attack-or the best on that concept you can. Or hide. Otherwise if you're not Carlos Hathcock or some super Finn sniper you're dead.
Getting out: pick a route and employ the maximum aggresiveness. Don't charge directly into enemy guns but try to flank, find the weak points, get out.
I want a SCAR17S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get them out to the people!!!!!!!!!!!
We're running out of time!!!!!!!
Any suggestions on another good, dependable and accurate (1 MOA minimum) semi-auto, piston operated 7.62NATO?
I've considered DSA SA58 but just not convinced it'll be very accurate beyond a couple of hundred meters.

Boy. I remember this kind of stuff happened with another mind-altering substance, alcohol, in the 1920's, when it was banned.

The solution is obvious: remove the cash from the trade by massively undercutting the price while legalizing use/possession by adults. Let business compete on quality/price/brand like soap or put the States in the dope trade just like some States are in the Liquor and Lottery trades. Washington State will have no trouble adding new lines of merch to their State-owned State-run Liquor Control Commission Stores.
Same warnings as on big pharma products: drowsiness, munchies, poor judgment, economic failure, constipation, sleeplessness, feminization of males, weight gain, sluggishness, etc. Special warnings and requirements for powder cocaine and opiates. Selling to minors ought to bring life-sentence or death penalty.
End immigration for 50 years as a start. Fix the 14th Amendment interpretation to delete such a notion as an "anchor baby". Expel illegal aliens. We have every kind of people already here. Let's make them Americans, if they are legal.
Fighting street battles is not fixing the problem, though I would definitely want to win and defend my town/road/country.
Cheers.
