Then pass it on.

Patriot.
Insurgent.
Traitor.
Terrorist.
Extremist.
Loyalist.

Defined by who wins the fight.

French Resistance in post WW2 Allied victory? Heroes. Post Nazi victory? Deserving of death.

Werewolf movement? Bad guys to the Allies, heroes to thew Nazis they would have won.

Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Washington, Henry= Heroes in America, but traitors who were hung if we were still under the British boot.

Successful rebellion, insurgency, etc. = Revolutionary War.

Unsuccessful rebellion / insurgency= Civil War.

It's all about perspective, and who ends up with the most guns. History is written by the victors.

My guess is, the Loyalists were never personally touched by the royal tyranny and had the luxury of watching others lose their prosperity and finally their liberty. Kahlil Gibran said the oxen plowing in the field look out from their yoke at the deer and consider them fey and strange things.
The animating contest of freedom can be intimidating.
The word "subjugate" comes from the Latin. Conquered peoples were forced to march under a symbolic yoke, "sub jugo."

When ¨The Government¨ Betray´s ¨We The People¨by surpassing the authority that has been vested to them by the ¨Law of The Land¨ other wise known as ¨The Constitution of The United States of America¨ What are we to do but ¨Revolt Against That Government¨that is ¨No Longer Our Own¨. Don´t try to tell me about Democracy or Who Won a Election. The IS A REPUBLIC and NOT A Democracy. The Rule of Law Applies to ¨The Government¨even more so than any individual. Because the Rule of Law (COTUSOA) makes that Government Legitimate or Not.

We are Loyal Patriots to the ideal of Our America and by extension the American People(for sake of argument).

Now that tin badge god kicking in doors of Amish Farmers for selling raw milk they're loyal patriots to the beast system that has been growing and taking over since 1787.

So glad people are finally waking up to the reality that "the country" is not the same as the State.

I do not live in a State. A State is nothing more than the physical manifestation of a bad idea. The physical manifestation of the idea that you have the right to force other to subsidize the policies you'd like in place, even if they don't want them.

I live in a country, a land, a place. Surrounded by neighbors whom I love.

The State should be recognized by everyone as the enemy of their neighbors. It has always caused more violence than it prevents! The State has ever been the destroyer of lives, order, justice, prosperity and peace.

Love your neighbors. Hate the State.

Tam,

Exactly. Thanks for the quote.

Another example:

Benedict Arnold, traitor because he picked the losing side.

General Andrei Vlasov, WW2, defected to the Germans. Traitor because his side lost.

Washington? In the same boat as Vlasov, but his chosen side won.

I've been called many things, traitor and patriot both among them. Funny thing is, all I've done so far is talk. Doesn't seem like talk would earn me either title.

;-)

VETTOM, That's a great site, but it would help if you provide a link to the specific post you are talking about.
I've been reading Francis Porretto for years and recommend him to everyone.
