Confession From The Greatest Generation
From page 20 of the September 1, 1961 edition of LIFE magazine, the main graphic from a pro-freedom organization's advertisement.
Sadly, most of those five-year-old boys also sold their American birthright for a mess of pottage as well.
Thus we stand on the cusp, with a Marxist in the White House and scores more in the Congress.
Yes, it can happen here.
And it already mostly had happened by the time that edition of LIFE went to the presses.
Audentes fortuna iuvat.

It has happened here because people forgot about what was important in life and believed in the BS and the constructed illusions they were given on TV. They lost the ability to think for themselves because they found it easier to let other people do it for them.
Yeah, I think you are right. I am in my early fifties and I keep asking myself what those my age could have done differently - but in nearly every aspect of this mess that I can think about, the initial battle had been lost by the time I was a child.
That being said, it neither means that we have no responsibility to "fight the good fight" now, or that the "good fight" has been irretrievably lost. As Tolkien might have said, Sauron must be resisted in every Age.
I WAS that 5 year old boy, in 1961.
Even though I'd stopped drinking the Marxist Flavr-Aid by 1979, some of my ideology even after that was equally toxic. And now I see the chickens coming home to roost, and what my generation did to this country, and I find myself trying to make amends in any way possible. Kids, we blew it. A lot of you don't realize that, because "blown" is normal for you. But read and thing for yourselves...it was a different world before the 60s.
I am only on p. 30 but have to recommend it to all readers, especially home schoolers for their high school students. It fits remarkably well with the books by Richard Maybury (http://www.richardmaybury.com/ericA.html) on WWI & WWII, the latter of which reveals all FDR's skulduggery including the "surprise attack" on Pearl Harbor.
Great read!
--from the last page in the book--
Moses said: "Come. Let us fall upon them and take
the land. It is ours from the Lord." At that the people turned bitterly on Moses, and said:"What a prophet you have turned out to be! So the land is ours if we can take it? We needed no prophet to tell us that". No doubt the people know they can have their Republic back if they want it enough to fight for it and to pay the price. The only point is that no leader has yet appeared with the courage to make them choose.

for fellow lynxers, the "pottage"
link takes one to mises.org's
online Garrett Garrett The People's
Pottage, written well before 1961
IIRC. Highly recommended.
