Like cattle to slaughter and as 0321 correctly pointed out in yesterday's comments to the Garden Serf article, "NOBODY GIVES A SHIT"!

The Constitution, that document which the government does not obey, states clearly that the only land held by the fedgov should be military installations, the post office and that 10 square miles known as D.C. (the district of criminals).

I would be in favor of the fedgov selling off the vast swaths of land in many western states but only to private citizens not to foreigners or corporate interests.

I don't recall where I read recently that many of the states have already started selling off "assets" like toll bridges and highways to foreign entities. Yes, you read that correctly. We have become like junkies selling off mom's silverware to fund our opulent and obscene life-style. Addicted to electronic gadgetry, crappy food, and mindless pleasures.

We are the modern incarnation of Rome and we are in decline with the help of a kleptocracy and a ignorant populace.

It will be no wonder when our children piss on our graves. We have allowed it to happen.

  2. One good thing is that with the worsening economic situation, people are beginning to pay attention. That's why Pelosi isn't Speaker any more.

IMHO, that means that if there is any attempt to sell any government-held gold other than in sales of gold Eagle coins and other collectibles (which is a pittance), there will be a big stink and it will stop the sale in its tracks.

  3. anon@4:36,
    my, aren't you an optimist?

Getting rid of Pelosi will turn things around??? (several hundred more like her isn't even a good start)

And if the fed.gov tries to sell off OUR gold, the people will rise up and put a stop to it??? (just like they did with DHS/TSA/ATF/Wall St./Congress/Clinton/Obama/Holder/Bush/Cheney/etc/etc)

I'll be holding my breath and waiting to see how this turns out.

  4. Note to Yahoo Finance:

Ron Paul is not advocating that the US return to a gold standard. Ron Paul IS advocating for competing currencies. The private sector and/or states would be able to create their own money -- People would use what they felt comfortable with. Thus, the competition between all currencies would keep the Fed Res note from going to far off the deep end. Otherwise folks would stop using it. Its a check and balance thing.

Just thought that needed to be cleared up.
