I would add only that the course of human history demonstrates that applied, practical violence is the ultimate arbiter of philosophical and theological disputes.
The .gov knows that, which is why they have spent nearly forty years assembling the Federalized police system in today's America.
Just in case the .mil leadership honors their Constitutional oaths.
This will not end well.
And the absence of an effective political opposition guarantees that bad ending.
Boy, can't wait til the republicans take over in Jan. They'll get things fixed back to normal, like we had under Bush.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know. Let's blame it all on the Democrats.
We'll keep playing musical chairs every 4 yrs. The world will be a better place for it.
Somebody please tell me this isn't reality. This ignorance and blatant stupidity is just beyond comprehension. I think I'll go hug my bible now. My imaginary friend will help me sort this out.
Both parties are part of the problem.
ReplyDeleteThe American people are the biggest problem.
And for them, there is no cure.
At least, 'til the new Han landlords arrive.
"At least, 'til the new Han landlords arrive."
ReplyDeleteI don't think the vatos in El A are gonna submit easily to Chinese rule....
Gotta go with the ChiComs on this one, Jimmy....los vatos think they are bad MFs 'cuz they drove the Bloods and Crips out.
ReplyDeleteWhupping Team Mao is a whole 'nother deal.
Too bad General Giap is not available to consult for theFreeFor.
I like Mr. Suber. I know just the people who need to read him.
ReplyDeleteAbout that federalized police force... there's been another of these:
http://www.opposingviews.com/i/another-innocent-family-terrorized-by-police-over-pot
The usual. 13-year-old girl threatened with submachine gun, residents manhandled and forced to stand out in the cold in their underwear, dog threatened with lead euthanasia.
I don't think anyone has an idea how rough things will get with the Chinese. They are probably, pound for pound, some of the toughest soldiers on earth today. The Russian Army is tougher than hell but not on par with the Chinese. America's soft video game generation will have their ass handed to them on a platter facing either army.
ReplyDeleteYes, we have some great soldiers, but when the whole nation has to mobilize, 80% of the youth will be found worthless. Physically unfit, unable to carry a pack and weapon, mentally unfit from too little discipline and too much couch potato war gaming. How will they even function when their cell phones aren't there to comfort them?
I see vids of current US soldiers returning from patrol and running into the barracks to play video war games, WTF? Don't tell me, I already know, it keeps them sharp and ready for action!
So yes, I guess we'll have to look to our street gangs to rescue us from the foreign devils. Dream on.

The Federal Police vs. Patriot elements of the US Armed Forces?
ReplyDeleteCome on guys, most of these "Fed Forces" are in just as poor physical and psychological shape as the rest of America. Underneath most of those impressive matching gear get ups is an overweight bully. Exceptions exist, but they're the polar opposite ratio of the people who staff the meat eater elements of the Armed Forces.
+1 on the gangs getting ground for sausage... warrior culture (individual) vs. professional soldier culture (disciplined team) is going to lose damn near every time. They won't be waving guns in the faces of scared septegenrians... it will be a big shock for the ones that squeak by and survive the first 24 hours.
Physical violence does not end a philosophical or ideological dispute. It merely stops the questions from being asked.
ReplyDeleteTo say that physical violence ends an ideological dispute is to say the the War of Northern Aggression proved that States do not have the Constitutional "right" to secede.

ReplyDeleteIn celebrating MLK, they hide the statue of Gorge Washington in a box. They don't understand how anyone could take offense.
Check out this self-described "civility":

They have lots to say about the right to secede also, Brass. Another regular there, Michael Pakman, would LOVE to hear from you, I bet.
They're pushing away liberty with both hands and both feet, and they want to tie ours.
Brass:
ReplyDeleteFor 90% of the American people, that is exactly what the Civil War did.
Wrong or right, physical force works.
Might doesn't make Right, Might makes Results. The Union conquered the Confederacy, no question that result was achieved. But if you don't satisfactorily answer the moral questions, they keep coming up. Physical force only works in the short term.

ReplyDeleteSPLC in the schools, to "defeat stereotypes" and teach "critical thinking."
Can you think of any stereotypes they won't be interested in defeating, fellow "domestic extremist"?
CA-
ReplyDeleteVery good point.
No one ever said the end result would be "fair" or "right", only "decided". Hard to argue when you're dead.
We're all in for another dispute, I think. Let's hope we win the argument.

ReplyDeleteExcept that a lot of the gangs have been sending members into the Armed Forces to get trained. Also remember that some gangs (MS-13 being probably the best example) were born in actual shooting wars. Look also to Mexico - cartel guys have been giving Mexican .gov types all they can handle.
It's not a sure thing one way or the other.
Concerned,
ReplyDeleteIf you ask a Muslim if Muslims are allowed to eat pork, and he beheads you, has he answered the question?
A philosophical question is answered with a philosophical answer. Otherwise, it is ignored. Force is not an answer to a question. It stops the question.
What Anonymous said at the top...
ReplyDeleteAnd allow me quote a comment from Spartacus on WRSA or Sipsey (I forget), over a couple of years ago, that was so to-the-point, I saved it for posterity:
"All the arguments of Conservative versus Liberal, Democrat versus Republican, and Right versus Left are smoke and mirrors to distract us from the eternal truth that the only struggle is between government control and individual liberty."
- Spartacus"
I don't want civil discourse either but that is certainly not predicated on something as ridiculous as party political rivalry (besides I am a firm advocate and practitioner of the Gray Man school)
I invite Mr Suber to bite me. What a tool.
Brass:
ReplyDeleteActually, the Muslim has answered your question.
He just answered in a different language.
And the questioner is out of the game.
That's the problem with the freshman-dorm approach to human conflict - in the real world, words between serious players ultimately lead to action against and amongst the committed.
The statists are bloody serious, they possess all of the instruments of national power (including the media), and as soon as dissent becomes too effective, we will learn that power does not yield gracefully.
On the other hand, given the fiber of most North Americans, dissent will NOT become effective, and the Bad People will be able to implement their schemes (e.g., climate regulation, single world currency, continual surveillance of all subjects) and avoid major bloodshed.
On a less-acerbic note, I do appreciate your principled defense of principles, and I hope and pray that your view of humanity is correct.
The Three Minutes Hate directed at Glenn Beck prompted me to listen today.
ReplyDeleteHe said the progressives' goal is "enlightened despotism," because they consider people too stupid to vote correctly. Cass Sunstein says "When we find out that people are human -- that they have a little Homer Simpson in them -- it makes it easier to manipulate them." Responding to Rep. Steve Cohen's allegation that Republicans use Nazi propaganda tactics to repeal Obamacare, Beck points out that the Nazis used the tactics developed by the early progressives.
Beck, way over on the other hand, says we are endowed with the capability to REASON and we should use that and find out the truth for ourselves. No wonder they're effing scared of him.
Talk radio this morning is discussing the EPA's DEMAND that cities (Philadelphia is one of the first) direct inspectors to enter homes to make sure only clean water is being released through sump pumps, etc., into the sewer system.
Police often accompany a fire marshal and code enforcement officer on similar little visits. One out of the group can usually find a reason to take you with them.
CA,
ReplyDeleteThe Muslim hasn't answered the question. He's killed you. That is a response, not an answer. If I ask a mathematical question, "How much does 2x2 equal," and you say, "peristalsis," have you answered the question? No. You must answer a question in the way it was asked. You can respond in any way you choose. But the mathematical question was not resolved. It was stifled, ignored, and the questioner was destroyed, yes.
I understand and agree that the powers that be have no respect, and they try to solve problems by destroying people who bring those problems to their attention. But killing off, for example, those who object to the Federal Reserve, is not a response to the critics of the Federal Reserve on the level on which they questioned the value of its existence.
CA, my view of humanity? I see a lot of "good Germans" all around, ready to go along with any slaughterous scheme the State cooks up. I know my history. I don't expect widespread resistance. I expect the frog to get boiled, and the heads that stick over the edge of the pot to get hammered. As another poster said, they can deny and try to stifle the truth, but they cannot destroy it. I do not see good things coming down the immediate pipe. There is the way people should interact, which I support, and the way they will interact. I have no illusions that the two will intertwine in the near future.
