Good news?
The Red Dawn remake, from which the graphics above and below originated, may be moving closer to release.
Bad news?
The Chinese actually are on the move, as this FT article (free registration required) indicates:

Welcome to a new era of globalisation, China-style. As the financial crisis recedes, one of the big fears is that the process of increasingly closer links among big economies worldwide will go into reverse as governments and countries look inward. The message coming from the world’s second-largest economy for the past year has been clear: China wants to accelerate the integration of the global economy, but on its own terms.
Over the past few decades, China has benefited hugely by hitching itself to a process of globalisation where the rules were written in Washington and the American consumer was the buyer of last resort. China prospered by making first the socks, then the washing machines and finally the iPods sold at Walmart.
Coming out of the crisis, China wants to forge a new phase of globalisation where many of the roads – financial, commercial and perhaps eventually political – converge on Beijing. China is not seeking a rupture with the international economic system (although some foreign companies are fearful of a technology grab). But it is looking to mould more of the rules, institutions and economic relationships that are at the core of the global economy. It is trying to forge post-American globalisation...

Time to forge a strategic alliance with the Vietnamese. They don't like the Chinese, and they beat them last time they fought.
ReplyDeleteTitle suggestion for last picture:
ReplyDelete"Useful idiot bows to his master."
Question: Will our Chinese masters still allow some political dissent in our films?
ReplyDeleteIt's early days, but we will see.
Interesting times. And all by design.
ReplyDeleteDestroy American industry with crippling regs claiming "pollution prevention.'
ReplyDeleteSend it all to a mortal enemy who has ZERO environmental concern.
Make up lost revnue due to economy YOU DESTROYED by borrowing unimaginable sums from same enemy. Ensure spending grows exponentially inverse to revenue.
Having bankrupted private industry, emptied the treasury and poisoned the planet, now you must ensure recovery can never happen.
I keep asking: if they were DELIBERATELY TRYING to destroy our Republic, what would they do differently?
I got nothin'....
Anyone?

other title "look Hu's getting their package checked".
ReplyDeleteHo hum, competition among the elites leading to a possible change of political masters. Your family has been sold to a different slaveowner. Nothing new here. It is human nature for most people to gratefully submit to God-King politicians who promise to solve all of life's problems. I don't expect that human nature to change. Find a way to reject politics itself, despite the will of the majority, and you will defend against all of the Bad People at once.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe Hollywood is remaking this. They never forgave Milius for the first one. Has anyone seen the script?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if they rewrote it to be "Invasion of the Religious Right Militias" in keeping with the mandatory Entertainment Industry political worldview. But the posters show promise.
I only wish an invasion were necessary to subjugate us--it's coming along quite nicely without a shot being fired.

ReplyDeleteA big help in putting biggest-government socialist president Obama in office, but objects to having HER wealth redistributed.
I have to wonder: Why hasn't she gotten one of Obama's famous WAIVERS, like he's been giving large corporate supporters concerning the health care reform mandate?
She's an actress. Maybe she's ACTING like she's just one of us poor slaves to the IRS.

ReplyDeleteRussia backs a Palestinian state with the capital in East Jerusalem. Well, of COURSE they do. Statists helping statists.
Are things getting Biblical?
The only problem with the whole "red dawn" concept is that the tyrants have learned well that the "natives" don't like rapid change and especially don't take well to armed occupation. Therefore, they will merely direct OUR FEDERALIZED LAW ENFORCEMENT and our military to do their bidding - they now hold all of the strings controlling our puppet gov. They don't need to invade, there are plenty of willing oppressors right here already - and they speak the local language.

ReplyDeleteConsider Engineered Obsolescence: Chinese replace all high quality tools, machine parts, fabrics, structural components, fasteners, etc with substandard replacements designed, either intentionally or negligently, to slowly corrode, poison, fracture, or otherwise fail in order to drive up enemy production cost and deprive the enemy of critical agricultural, transportation, defense and communication infrastructure.
Do you really plan to rely on that Chinese-slave-labor-factory-made shovel when the time comes to dig a latrine, or plant some beans, or bury a dead cat??????
An what about that drill bit? Grinder? Light bulb?? Sewing thread??
Judging by the labels in the department stores -
