A very thoughtful and thought-provoking site, GardenSERF's.
But the media say it's only a temporary slowdown in the recovery from a little recession... We haven't hit the psychological barriers that will make average people sit up and pay attention; half a million jobs aren't being lost every month, only 480,000. Gas at $2.99 a gallon isn't gas at $5.00 a gallon, or even $3.00. No big deal. Besides, Europeans are used to paying $5 or even $10... Hybrids and electric cars will save us. Never mind where THAT energy has to come from. On one of those home design shows, the owners reduced their asking price from $505,000 to $499,000 and the potential buyers went from zero to dozens. I have a lot of acquaintances who are or were journalists before they got laid off. Their Facebook entries are about sports, restaurants, music, kids, pets. These trained observers and reporters must feel that nothing is wrong. All according to plan in Liberalland.
