Cloward-Piven Strategy For Today

PJM has this story on the call by Francis Fox Piven for mass action by today's jobless.

This PJM commenter nails it:

Andrew X
But of course, in advocating just this sort of behavior, she de facto approves of it being used against her and her ilk.

Anger, anger, anger, anger. She uses the words multiple times. She is like the sorcerers apprentice, calling for targeted anger with no consideration of the apoplectic fury already held against her and her like by millions of normal and decent, and um…. growingly activist and dare I say, well-armed, Americans.

Sure you wanna play this game, baby? You have taught us all that disruption, disobedience, and direct-action are the way to go. How ’bout some of that “direct-action” headed right at your own hate-filled noggin’? Morally speaking, why the hell not? YOU sure have no argument against it. Frankly, the only thing keeping it from happening is that the right just doesn’t roll that way, nor does it want to. You would do well to keep it that way, toots.

I’m sure Piven et al consider Mario Savio, founder of the UC Berkley ‘Free Speech’ movement in 1964, somewhat of a hero. He said something interesting once –

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all”.

Piven et al in the end are pro-machine. That’s all they have to offer to make their fantasies work. You really wanna rile up a genuine “rage against the machine”?

Playin’ with fire, baby, playin’ with fire. And too damn stupidly intellectual, or intellectually stupid, to know it.

Just an observation, but, um, the right is losing.

If the forces of gimme can mobilize and get ugly for more gimmes, I would think FreeFor could mobilize and get ugly, if necessary, for freedom.

My experiences in the military taught me that stubbornly holding the figurative and literal "high ground" can be deadly, especially in the face of HE barrages.

Wise platoon Sgt.- "Sir, we've got to leave..."

Green 2 LT- "But we were told to set up on this hillside..."

Wise platoon Sgt.- "Sir...you stay, me and the platoon are leaving..."

The tinder is getting very dry.
    VERY dry.

    Happy New Year.

  2. Oh, there's going to be mass action alright, but it will be to sanction the "Frances Fox Pivens" of America and their acolytes.

She's really going to hate the results, for a second or maybe two.

By the way, take a look at her photos in the early '60's; she was a mistress of short skirts and big boobs.

  3. The commentor does get it.

I truly believe the average patriotic American is different from the average non-patriotic American and the average European. I think that is why during thousands of Tea Party events not once did any Tea Party Patriot stompt the snot out of the SEIU sponsored antagonists, break a storefront window, or torch a cop car.

That's simply not how we are built.

He is also correct that once we do reach the point of action, it will be overwhelming and determined, and we won't stop until they are utterly decimated. It is a very dangerous force to be unleashed.

The problem is that those of the Left are wired so differently, they simply can not comprehend what it all means. They will never stop pushing, until they have pushed too far, and they are no more...

  4. The coming collapse will fix all of it. With no more welfare checks, the parasites will riot and their own cleansing will begin. The real sad part is that instigators like her will find a way to hide and escape the destruction she so badly wants. When it's all over, who will feed her? The host is now dead.

  5. Piven is still alive?

"to try to relieve the misery created by the Great Recession with massive investments in public-service programs, and also to use the authority and resources of government to spur big new initiatives in infrastructure and green energy that might, in fact, ward off the darkness."
In other words, enlarge government with a new minimum-wage Civilian Conservation Corps and Public Works Administration, and relying on inefficient, expensive energy technology that won't be viable for at least another 50 years, as gas hits $3.00 a gallon, oil lies under the continental shelf and Alaskan North Slope, and more coal than has ever been mined remains to be dug out.
OR, reject globalism and uberregulation of small business and let natural market influences restore the balance that made America the most prosperous and inventive nation for 100 years.
    People mean nothing anymore.

  6. "Second, before people can mobilize for collective action, they have to develop a proud and angry identity and a set of claims that go with that identity."

Gee, sounds like the aim of chicano studies.

  7. Well, the "machine," AKA Corporatism/Fascism (not the free market) does need to collapse. There are so many peaceful, statutorially-approved ways of accelerating the collapse, (a collapse which, like Communism, is caused by the system not being in accord with human nature.)

There are people here who know their economics. Follow the steps and deprive the corporatists/fascists of their bread and butter.

Seems to me that is part of our problem. The left continues with their attack on liberty because they have no fear of any negative ramifications.

I am not advocating violence. However, I have maintained for quite some time that what needs to happen is massive (not a few thousand but millions) civil disobedience and wide-spread shut down of cities across the country. We don't budge until they retreat! Now the fact that this kind of display could trigger a fight is something the left would have to take note of.

Frankly, I don't disagree with much of what she stated in the article but for her ideas to fix the problems.

The freedom movement needs to get serious about demanding FREEDOM!

  9. These clowns assume that because we on the "right" have not risen up in righteous anger since the American Revolution, that we will NEVER rise up. These petty tyrants think they can keep getting away with more and more abuses and we will just take it. They have no idea...when the hammer does fall, it will be right on their clueless, useless noggins.

  10. "As for the jobless, right-wing commentators and Congressional Republicans are reviving the old shibboleth [feared beast] that unemployment is caused by generous unemployment benefits that indulge poor work habits and irresponsibility."
I've been out of work for 17 months. I've applied for 165 realistic jobs and gotten five responses of ANY kind, and had three interviews. I've had four years of college, but no degree, and 30 years of white-collar experience.
I WANT to work, but apparently someone has to die for there to be a job opening. 480,000 people a month aren't QUITTING their careers to go on and stay on unemployment; those jobs no longer exist, or, if they do, are now two PART-TIME jobs with no benefits, and you're free to RE-APPLY for what you did well for 20 years along with FNGs who will get an ENTRY-level salary that's maybe 1/4 of yours. It's good for business. The businesses that are still here.
Piven was among those who started this ball rolling, with globalism and denying the worth of the individual. I hope it comes back to her front door.
And why was she published in a Middle East publication anyway?

    For two years.
Kaine says "But now that we're gaining jobs..."
Translation: We WERE losing 750,000 jobs a month, but now we're only losing 480,000 a month. That's a "gain" of 270,000 jobs a month, don't you see?

  13. Just remember that "Law Enforcement" is the Great Enabler for this swill. Until they rot in hell where they belong, this will continue.

  14. Anon 0321 is correct but omits the 'right' like Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, et al, who'll also di di to a safer place while exhorting (from a well prepared & protected compound in another country) their loyal barking seal audience to resist the tyranny of the Left to the uttermost.

  15. Cassandra, Thank you.
Don't even get me started on those scumbags. I think it's a shame to the Nazis to have to lump these new media hounds into the Josef Goebbels School of Propaganda. I watched Fox when it first came out and then soon started to see something very, very wrong with their style of propaganda. I served under Capt. Oliver North in the USMC and enjoyed watching his broadcasts, but that soon wore off.
Most of my friends adore these assclowns and haven't a clue where they are being led. Let them suffer the consequences of their actions.
