Read this emetic piece from the leftist
UK Guardian.
Contrast that tyrant-felching screed with the courage shown by Austrian housewife
Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff as she faces trial for hate speech on Tuesday.
And remember -- no one in the native countries of
these folks thought the loss of free speech could happen in their country, either.
They're coming for your words, boys and girls.
Here in America.
Stand ready.
Stay
uncivil, my friends.
Doublethink, from Wikipedia:
ReplyDeleteNewspeak is the method for controlling thought through language; doublethink is the method of directly controlling thought.
Newspeak incorporates doublethink, as it contains many words that create assumed associations between contradictory meanings, especially true of fundamentally important words such as good and evil; right and wrong; truth and falsehood; justice and injustice.
In the case of workers at the Records Department in the Ministry of Truth, doublethink means being able to falsify public records, and then believe in the new history that they, themselves, had just written. As revealed in Goldstein's Book, the Ministry's name is itself an example of doublethink: the Ministry of Truth is really concerned with lies. The other ministries of Airstrip One are similarly named: the Ministry of Peace is concerned with war, the Ministry of Love is concerned with torture and the Ministry of Plenty is concerned with starvation. The three slogans of the Party — War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength — are also examples.

Turns out- Orwell was writing an instruction manual.
Freedom of Speech is the 'Tripwire'!
ReplyDelete"However, the fourth characteristic of tyranny, censorship, is the obvious primary tripwire. When ideology and the reporting of facts and how-to instructions are forbidden, there is nothing remaining but to fight. Freedom of speech and persuasion -- the freedom to attempt to rationally convince willing listeners -- is so fundamental an individual right that without it no other rights, not even the existence of rights, can be enforced, claimed, debated, or even queried."

Did you see what the Associated Press DIDN'T find necessary to report out of J. Eric Fuller's interview on DemocracyNow.com before he threatened the Tucson Tea Party leader with death?
ReplyDelete"And even though I was sedated and everything, I stayed up—I was staying up, stayed most of the night. And I didn’t know how to calm myself down, so I wrote down the Declaration of Independence, which I memorized some time ago. And that did help to organize my thoughts. And the first thing that I wrote down and what my reaction was to it was: "How many other people? How many other demented people are out there? It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target. Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled—senseless hatred leading to murder, lunatic fringe anarchism, subscribed to by John Boehner, mainstream rebels with vengeance for all, even nine-year-old girls." There was a little girl named Christina Green, nine years old, who is one of the deceased."
"Freedom can only flourish in a climate of discipline." That was my favorite. I kind of feel bad for our friends across the pond. They lost all their rights by letting idiots like Simon tell them what to think. Course I dont feel bad cause they shouldve told Simon to sit down and shut up. We are at a crossroads ourselves though. The time is coming where we tell the libs to sit down and shut up or else. I'm becoming less tolerant of them telling me how its gonna be. Why couldnt they have taken an interest in something other than stealing everyones freedoms.

ReplyDeleteYes, but once they take away the guns, they don't have to worry about ANY steenkin' trip wires.
May they rot in hell for what they have done to this country!
I liked this on the guardian comments board after the Free speech can't exist unchained. US politics needs the tonic of order, Article.

Says it all.
I wonder what the Thug had to say to get banned.
Chains are only useful for locking things up, or pulling them. Free speech has no chains. Only tyrants cannot exist without chains.

ReplyDeleteCase in point. You probably already heard about this. There will be more examples.
Muslims are Wookies, Christians are droids.
A droid don't pull people's arms off when they lose.
Detroit is thinking about closing half of its public schools to save money. The buildings will be abandoned and allowed to rot.
Illinois has raised the state income tax by 66%.
They indeed have no reason to care what the people think.
After the restoration, do we treat foreign "journalists" like Simon Jenkins the same way we treat our own enablers in the media? Nazi hunter style missions to apprehend subhuman scum like him just have such a nice glow about them.
ReplyDeleteYour question assumes a victory for the Restoration forces.
ReplyDeleteThat assumption is not supported by current reality.

ReplyDeleteQuick recap: His "Say No to Burqas" mural on his own front wall has led to threats, vandalism and a riot, accusations of racism against him and now threats of firebombing his studio. Speaking up for free choice is risky these days.
He said the paintbrush is mightier than the gun or the sword. So he's not living in the real world anyway.
