Concealment Does Not Equal Cover

Any questions?

  1. Holes in the earth are cover. Be that a basement or a hand-dug depression, getting below the average terrain makes it hard to observe or hit with direct-fire weapons.

    Where's that Ditch Witch?

Then there are indirect fire weapons...

    Cheers.

  2. Concealment Does Not Equal Cover.
    In either direction.

  3. Concealment does not = cover.

Very good point. This is one danger of paintball/airsoft/M.I.L.E.S. gear training.

Sometimes cover does not = cover.

    RAUFOSS. I want some.

  5. This reenforces the old wisdom, "the best place to be when the US government thugs show up is someplace else." You don't attack the men with the M2 heavy machine gun, you attack the truck bringing the ammo for the gun.

  6. Did lots of this training in the Army. Never thought these plywood shacks made any cover, just concealment. Fighting from one is suicide, unless fortified heavily and you have your own big guns, with mutually supporting fires. A moving fight is the best cover and concealment. Also gives you great ways to entice and destroy pursuers.

Quite so...and to quote from a commentator in the Venlet article, "When push comes to shove the meanest animals will win."

Some of them will be shooting at those who value liberty, and some will be shooting in the other direction. That former group is aware of the latter group's capabilities (and is vastly outnumbered by the latter group) is all that keeps the .gov from imposing a dictatorship.

Keep buying those .30 and .50 cal. weapons...the other side can count.

  8. As part of the Introduction to Firearms Class that I teach, I always show a 1/4 inch piece of steel plate...it has holes clear through, made with ordinary hunting loads and a couple of AP rounds in .30-06 and one from a .50 BMG

New students are always surprised that a hunting rifle can do that! I use it as a graphic example of how powerful a gun is.

Yes, there is a huge difference between cover and concealment.

  9. Go check out www.theboxotruth.com. There are some good lessons to be learned there, too.

  10. They didn't mention what happens with the grenade launcher if you're too close for the round to arm before hitting the outside.

It would also be nice to see something on 2.75" rockets, both single and salvo. They're cheap, and carried on both planes and helicopters, and would most likely be the support of choice for a variety of anti-militia purposes.

  11. Saw one many years ago on VHS.

Cops in PRK (IIRC) "sneaking up" on bank-robbers.

Bank was in ground-floor of building with "mirrored" glass on 2 sides.

Cop - who cannot see in - comes "sneaking" along the glass and....

    BANG!

Apparently the late officer numbnuts never stopped to consider that just because you can't see THEM doesn't mean they cannot see you...
