    Nice to see Tom incorporated the earlier feedback.

    I worked as a 1099 contractor for a few years and that whole system is based on the last vestige of honesty in American business. Some people have it, some don't.

  2. I believe the takeaway message is this: are you willing to submit perfect tracking records of your business operations in return for 40% more money? Or would you rather file a 1040EZ in return for better privacy and resistance to audits? Neither strategy is clearly superior for every situation and every personality type. Some permitting, purchasing, and sales situations will attract fewer raised eyebrows if you are papered like a farm, a software product company, a doctor or lawyer's practice, or a building contractor. And some of these occupations will attract more regulation in the near future than others. Do you want it to be generally known that you raise animals for food, or not?
