  1. Arctic Patriot hit it on the head. In every instance that troops were ordered to fire on fellow americans, THEY DID!!!
What really comes to mind for me is the Bonus March. Many of these men served together and fought in France, only to be shot down in the streets of Washington D.C. Under orders from your former CO. So for all of you that are waiting for the police and army to come over to our side, keep dreaming. It's more of a death wish.

  2. AM is on it. A good resource, for sure.

And oh yeah, consider that picture stolen by me. You'll see it again...

  3. "Historically insurgents are successful when the following conditions are met."

The original poster needs to also focus on the fact that "insurgencies" have been historically "successful" when they have the support of an internal faction within that country's elite.

  4. I disagree with his point on the Armed Forces getting "better" when they downsize. From my own experince from 88-94, things went to shit, do not pass go, or collect 200 dollars as soon as Clinton began cuts. The career men, the real spine who were close enoough to retirement stuck it out. Most others bailed as soon as they could, before becoming career men. That left the "lifers", the non-useful beings that couldn't get a job anywhere else. Worse, it made room for the lifers to advance in rank, often by merit of time served alone, which further screwed things up by promoting the ineptitude. Mixed in with this was a bunch of PC bullshit, just to ice the cake and that was all she wrote boys. Some of the guys who toughed out the mid 70's told me that it was a similar experience. As soon as we end operations in the sand, the bureaucrats, pogues and desk pilots will rule again and things will get bad.

  5. I know it looks bleak, but most commenters forget this principle:

My granddaughter is in the military. Very gung-ho. Says obeying all orders is her job, legal or not.
If I hear of her participating in any violent acts against Americans... Well, let's just say that my wife will probably be very upset with me.
And I used to feed her and change her diapers.

  6. A.M., being an Army Captain, is in excellent position to understand what is happening within the military these days- and is taking some serious chances with his future if he gets too detailed or jumps too far out of the box in what he writes.
Point being, his being a bit cryptic or leaving out some parts of information are totally understandable to me. Reading through his back posts will reveal a world of insider information all of us could learn from.
    The man has my respect.

  7. A.P.,
does that stand for Awesome Poster? Looking forward to seeing it again soon. I hope you have some new 'Patriot' poster planned for that. A universal sign we can all identify with.
Love the 'old school" M-60, put thousands of rounds downrange with those, M-60 and M-60E2.
