  1. Equal protection? Due process?
Every time one of them mentions those words, they should be forced to look for the equal protection and due process in this video.

I swear that cop thought he was shooting an IPSC course. "Beat THAT time!"

  2. Gotta love that guy.

In the past four years, my list of "Heroes", or even people I respect, has radically changed. It's much shorter, for one.

Lysander Spooner is at the top of the list. Billy Beck is on it too.

My children will leave school (my home) with a good knowledge of Mr. Spooner.

  3. Re: Spooner: SCOTUS knows who he is and that's what counts. Also, seems the man had some thoughts on Gold and Silver which I now need to review:

  4. I don't understand why you guys are so impressed with Billy Beck. I can't see what you see apparently.

  5. Two comments:

    1) RE: Item one - yes, it's a national disgrace, but more importantly it's a national policy.

    2) @Kansas Scout - Contacts? Lasik? Help is out there...

  6. "I don't understand why you guys are so impressed with Billy Beck."

Let me answer that with a quote taken off Billy Beck's book list:

"The most subversive political implication of 'Atlas Shrugged', is that individual freedom is possible only to those who are strong enough, psychologically and morally, to withdraw their sanction from any system that coercively thrives off their productive energies." (Sciabarra -- "The Russian Radical", pp. 301-302)

To me, Billy's most impressive aspect is that he rejects all forms of politics with scathing contempt, 100% of the time. How does he do this? I believe because he is thinking right, living right, and so his proper behavior is automatic and nearly unconscious -- he does the right thing "instinctively" before he has time to reason it through. He doesn't lapse into nostalgic error and think fondly about this sheriff or that code inspector in his youth, because he has truly purged any respect he might have once had for such evil institutions.

Over the last year I've watched our host CA's defense of statism get weaker and weaker until now it's just about muted; but Billy Beck has been living there fully formed for 20 years longer, and he has two more zeros of strength and precision behind his voice. There is no hesitancy, because he's an expert at it.

  7. When I was thirteen years old, Robert LeFevre told my father: "In your efforts to reduce government, aim for zero. If you ever get there and don't like what you find, it will be the easiest thing in the world to pick up the nearest telephone and have another one installed the very next day."

This was not a seminal or turning-point thing to me, but it amply illustrates what I understand and how long I've understood it.

Kansas Scout: you need a social security number?

    430-21-4093.

There. You can have that one, which this government assigned to me. You can use it if you want to, because I don't. They do.

I'm sure it's over ten years since the first time that I published it online. That's how *fired* this government is, to me. I fired 'em, long before that.
