Mogambo On The Fed's Follies

The Mighty Mogambo comments on this Minyanville column re the recent disclosures that the Fed created $9 trillion out of thin air in the fall of 2008.

But it's all gonna be okay.

Really.

  1. "Parenthood" is one of my all-time favorite movies. Gil (Steve Martin) has this goofy gambler brother played by Tom Hulce. In one scene, Hulce approaches Gil for yet another loan.
"But I just loaned you $5,000!"
"Ye-es, but I took it to the track to try to run it up a little --"
    "-- and lost it all!"
"Listen, these guys I owe? They're gonna kill me!"
"You should have thought of that before."
Or did he say "Not before I do"?

  3. The CNN article says the loans were backed by collateral and paid back quickly.
My fuckin ass they were. I'll bet not a penny ever went back. Straight into those offshore accounts.
Just like last year, in a few weeks they were reporting loans were already repaid in full. Then a few months later it's reported that some of the loans were just STARTING to be repaid. ONE HUGE LIE AFTER ANOTHER.
And the best part of all this is, the average american doesn't give a hoot one way or another. As long as the TV still works and we're not starvin', who cares? This theft will continue until they tax us to death.
