Big Food Wins

Instapundit posted this story last night re S 510, the "FDA Food Safety Modernization Act".

Any doubt the lame-duck House will approve?

No worries, though.

I'm sure the FDA, along with Monsanto, ADM, and Cargill, all have my best interests in mind.

Besides, the Bowl games and the playoffs are about to begin.

Something like this or this could never happen here in Amerika, especially to regime opponents.

We're protected by the Constitution, don't ya know....

    What Constitution?

The nation has fallen and can't get up, prostrate, tripping over Tripwires.

"1984" (the book) was not supposed to be an instruction manual.

  3. Soros invested a big chunk of change in Monsanto. No way that bill wasn't passing.

The Owlhoot Trail and the Sweet Trade look like the best career options for the future.

  5. Concentrating power into fewer and fewer hands, and all it took was a couple of incidents of factory farms shipping disease-carrying product to a dozen states and causing a salmonella or E. Coli epidemic or FEAR OF ONE.
It is my belief that that Midwest egg superfactoryfarm laid off (hey, a pun) the workers whose job it was to keep the food and water troughs and ventilation systems free of chicken sh--. They wanted more profit, less of that inconvenient overhead called salaries and benefits. The cleaning didn't get done, the FDA didn't inspect, and hello salmonella outbreak. In 14 states.
So the answer is more factory farms, killing off the local roadside produce stands and doing background checks on SEEDS?
Not everyone chooses to own a gun; not everyone cares about free speech, or dignity and privacy while they travel, or even the right to privacy in their own home.
    Everybody eats.
May the Powers That Be continue overreaching. Peope are starting to get it.

  6. What timing! HomeSec announces terrorist plot uncovered (in the nick of time!) seeking to poison food at restaurants and hotels, chiefly salad bars.

And S. 510 would prevent this HOW?

Plus, great idea to have salad bars in every school, Mrs. Obama.

  7. I highly recommend this book by Joel Salatin, a family farmer who has been fighting the battle for years: "Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal: War Stories From the Local Food Front"

    http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Want-Do-Illegal-Stories/dp/0963810952

Joel saw this coming years ago when he "joked" about hiding his chickens in a basement "Anne Frank" style from the food-Nazis.
