  1. I cannot count the number of times I have heard the "it can't happen here" comment from Americans.

The fact is: IT IS HAPPENING HERE!!!

  2. As in, we have been weighed, we have been measured, and we have been found wanting? I'd buy that for a dollar. As a way of adding a little levity, I don't think OPFOR has given any thoughts to their own shortcomings.

    Good Robocop reference.

Thanks for that, and I agree:

  4. Yes, it is happening here. It has been happening here for years. And people still continue on because they have all of their creature comforts. You can wring your hands and whine about the "dancing with the stars" mindset, but nothing is going to change. As far as the economy goes, all of the doom and gloom, whether right or wrong is too remote and speculative for the Great Unwashed to bother with. Everyone still has their i-Tunes(now with the Beatles!), latest cell phones, and other toys. There's enough $ for booze, dope and junk food. The jitters over North Korea a few days ago has evaporated like ice on a hot stove. There is way too much alarmism on this website and you people need to relax.

  5. True story: I know a guy whose dad had one of the tattoos from the camps. When he was a kid (he's mid-50s now) he asked his dad what the number was. Dad said it was his phone number in the old country. He grew up thinking his dad was moron. When he found out what the number was, as a 20-something, he cried for an hour.

Dad should have told him. All of our dads should have told us what it was like. Most didn't.

I've met people with those tattoos from the last time. Never again. Not while I have a breath.

  6. When I was a college student working in a hospital, I met a few people as patients in psychological crisis who had the numbers tattooed on their arms. Thirty years after surviving the camps, they were still severely traumatized and had not recovered. They fully expected to die in the camps and could not understand why they lived. They had lost their entire families, neighborhoods, and way of life. They fully understood cruelty.

  7. A U.S. District Court judge in Virginia has thrown out Liberty University's lawsuit against Obamacare. He says fedgov mandating buying coverage is constitutional because whether one has health insurance affects interstate commerce.
The higher Fourth Circuit Court has yet to hear Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's lawsuit. That will be in late December or in January. Judge Hudson of the 4th Circuit sounds like he has a clearer grasp of constitutionality than the aptly-named Judge Moon of Lynchburg.
But, whatever. Like Sean said, I don't think the opposing force has thought it through. This might prove to be the immovable object.

A medical professional ALMOST gets it, about the dangers of universal *anything*.
