From The Cliffs: More On Due Process & Its Departure
Alvie muses on recent developments and their consequences.
Read it, and consider this:
Legal systems, from Hammurabi to the present day, have been designed to channel and, in most cases, prevent violent private dispute resolution between aggrieved parties.
In other words, most legal systems operate by standing between the parties and promising a neutral determination of the dispute, so that self-help by the parties will not be necessary, and neither will be the consequences of that self-help.
You have heard of blood feuds and vendetta, right?
What happens to society when a majority of rational actors (and not just some aging yuppies) come to the conclusion that "the system" is either not available to help, or worse yet, actively engaged against them in favor of their opponents?
History suggests that the demons unshackled by that conclusion, once escaped, prove nearly impossible to subdue, at least until all combatants have left piles of bodies across the landscape.
"War to the knife, and knife to the hilt", as the folks in Kansas vowed as they started killing each other six years prior to the 1861-1865 National Steel Cage Match.
Are you ready for a world in which the trust between Americans -- in their institutions and in each other -- is but a memory of a bygone era?
It's coming -- whether you're ready or not.
I think these times will try more than just our souls...

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the majority of rational actors are still the vast minority in a society. So what happens to the rational actors? They're killed by the majority, which is comprised of insane people.
Just the way it goes.
The Trust between Americans? I think we lost that a few years ago shortly after we lost Trust in the Guberment,Schools,Ect.

This government hopes to avoid the pitfalls of previous tyrannies by rehearsing each move to gauge the response, or lack thereof, of the sheeple. Avoiding, for now, thoughts of Waco and Ruby Ridge, and the gutless actions of the murdering bastard, Lon Whore-a-hootchie, look at Elian ( kidnapping of an older child from relatives' home ) then Cheyenne ( kidnapping from parents arms ) and next we will see confiscation of infants to be raised in youth camps, free of parental influence.
ReplyDeleteAnd as long as 'they' have a document, or a 'law' or whatnot, then we will stand aside and do as we are told. Right? I have no idea why the parents in the Irish case have not already terminated, with highest prejudice, each individual involved in kidnapping their infant.
So the next question is - when they send us a document ordering us to board the trains, and to leave personal items with the nice officer at the gate, will we hurry to comply, since it's 'the law'?
Arbeit Macht Frei!
I am not sure that the liberal fools and the technocrats understand what fire they are messing with. They think that everyone thinks the way they do, that is like a small child, or a slave. They will be the most surprised when people start acting out in unspeakable ways.
ReplyDelete"Forgive them father, they know not what they do."
Yes Lord, forgive them. I have a feeling the victims of elite malfeasance/ stupidity will not.
Sadly I've quit trusting most of my fellow Americans some time ago. When one stands up to government and fights against .gov wrongdoings, the masses ridicule you and personally attack you. Americans have come to like AND trust their governments. Even when their governments refuse to obey and comply with the laws meant to control those same government entities.
ReplyDeleteThe upcoming elections will be joke. For instance, here in the 3rd Congressional District of Pennsylvania, it appears the incumbent Democrat is going to be ousted by the Republican challenger, a used car salesman named Mike Kelly. Kelly was provided a survey by a large western PA firearms organization. Well, Mr. Kelly returned three copies of the survey to the organization sending the surveys. Lo and Behold, not one of the surveys were in the same handwriting. A phone call to his campaign HQs revealed by one of his staffers, that survey questions unanswered were blank because "I didn't know how to answer them." The freakin' staffer was answering a firearms survey intended for the candidate ! Imagine that. Yet Republican Congressional candidate Mike Kelly returned the surveys appearing that he, himself, completed them. You be the judge !
The moral of my story....the Republicans will NOT be part of the solution. Rather they are part of the problem. The difference between 'Pub and Dem is about the same as the difference between Coke and Pepsi.
We're in DEEP, DEEP SHIT !

One of the sales pitches for government is that without it, people will turn into murdering zombies and kill everyone within reach over petty disputes. Just like concealed weapons enable huge numbers of road rage shootings.
ReplyDeleteThere have been lots of zombie-type tribal war environments in the historical past, among smaller governments. In the urban inner city gang environment of the Appalachian mountain tribes, try to imagine the kids telling the parents: hey, that fight has been going on for generations, I don't see the point, he never did anything to me, I'm not going to contribute to it any more, I have better things to do. The government would then draft those children.
In the few places that had close to zero government, relatively few bad things happened. The American wagon trains heading West didn't turn into a zombie slasher movie after they got beyond the reach of the jurisdiction of St. Louis.
I think this post is Leviathan's sales pitch of avoiding Hobbes' shooting war of all with all, and I think it's false.
Anon:
ReplyDeleteThere will be a period of social disequilibrium resulting from sovereign default, during which time those who have not faced such ugliness in advance will be prey.
We yield to no one in distrust of the State.
We just aren't quite sure about some of our "fellow countrymen".
I believe the rule is:
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet
Make sense?
