As The Sons Of Martha* Retire...

Kevin discusses today's situation, as noted in this post by Old NFO.

Read it, then think about ten years from now.

Maybe the Powers-That-Will-Be can tweet for help.....

If the networks are still operating.

  2. Hell, I'm a degreed engineer. I can tell you with complete certainty that the courses were dumbed down in '94/95 because I've talked to professors who told me the whole story. In short, what was required for us, prior to that time frame, was now an option, such as the second semester of thermodynamics, machine design, etc. Also, calculus, chemistry, and physics were designed to eliminate the bottom 50%. Not so after '95. I can also tell you with certainty that courses that I had as an undergraduate are now considered graduate material.

Don't get me started on what I am seeing in my place of employment. Our new guys call me for simple hand calculations that I learned in my sophomore and junior years.

This is part of what alarms me. We may be able to ward off some of these problems, but who will ward them off in 20 years when we are dead or too old to fight them? All I can say is to train your children well outside of the official education system. The future of our freedom, nation, and, indeed, species, depends upon it.

  3. Where is the photo of that plaque from? (where was it taken?)

I actually memorized the poem a couple years back.
