On The Most Ancient Virus To Infect The Soul

Vanderleun:

[Note: With her visibly ugly soul, Helen Thomas has become the most current example of a person infected unto death with "The Ancient Virus." As a result, I thought it timely to repost this essay from 2005.]

Antisemitism is not a sign, a symbol, a bullet or a gas. It is a Virus. It is the oldest known virus to infest the human soul. In those infected, the virus is clever enough to mask it's existence by renaming itself as "anti-Zionism." Through the renaming of this ancient disease as a “political problem,” infected souls can transmit the virus to their friends, families. They can spread their disease at their schools and in their their community, church, or nation. The virus is also transmitted by exchanging infected fantasies with infected ideologues. By changing it's name the disease made it possible for many to deny that they have contracted the virus, and that their souls are chancre-ridden and rotting. This facilitates the current outbreak.

Yes, antisemitism is a clever virus and this shape-shifting is one of its oldest methods of perpetuating itself. Like other viruses currently feasting on humans, this

one always has a pleasure principle associated with it. It feels good to get it and we live in the plague years of "If it feels good, do it." Those whose moral immune systems have been previously compromised by other pleasure-born diseases have souls which are particularly susceptible to this virus.

The origin of the virus is unknown, but many suspect the area to be Bablyon and Sumur with an early leap across borders into Egypt. It was later transmitted through not-so-casual contact to much of the world by traders out of Northern Africa and the Roman Empire.

During the period following the fall of Rome, the virus found traction in early Christianity as a common carrier. In this host it thrived, and was able to survive and spread for many centuries. Of late, many parts of Christianity, now that it has become fragmented, have rejected the virus and those who host it, but strains of the virus can still be found at the center of many subsets of the Christian faith today.

Islam, of course, is the not-that-new major religion to not only host the virus, but to celebrate being infected with it, and to actively take measures to make sure that, within the body of Islam, the virus can thrive and expand. What to do about this new and virulent strain of the virus is something that is now consuming a great deal of the attention and treasure of Western Civilization.

In the past, treatment of the virus involved the application of large amounts of steel and fire, but this age is still experimenting with targeted surgery of the infected parts of Islam to see if a less Draconian cure is possible. Recent events confirm that this sort of microsurgery will probably be ineffective since the virus seems to have become the host...

  1. The anti-semitism is ancient. Islam is only 1400 years old.

Helen Thomas is older than Islam, isn't she? Didn't she cover the story of Moses coming through the Red Sea 3300 years ago? The tablets are lost, but she sided with the Egyptians that time. How dare Moses lead his people out of slavery! How dare they move into the land between the seas! There are heiroglyphs of her sitting next to Pharaoh.

If she sided with the Egyptians this time, she would see that both Egypt AND Israel are blockading Hamas, since Hamas are terrorists.

But this time she backs Turkey, as an agent for Iran. Didn't she write a piece supporting Xerces and the Persians against those darn 300, and those greeks yearning to control their own republics?

(There is no evidence to prove these theories wrong, therefore, they must be right. !@#&? Lefty Logic)

    Some things never change.

  2. Arabs are Semites, too. Did you know that?

I am not against Jews. I was a member of the JPFO. I'm not now only because I let it lapse. Next, not all Jews are Zionists.

I am against the State of Israel.
One does not have to support the State of Israel or its murderous actions to be an orthodox Jew.

I do not approve of anyone killing innocents, whether it be Hamas or the State of Israel.

I don't want my money going to either group.

  4. anti-zionism is not equal to anti-jew, just like anti-welfare is not equal to anti-black.

I for one am sick of people trying to smear their opponents with charges of racism when that person rationally opposes a policy that they find unjust.

    I am anti-zionist, not anti-jew.
    I am anti-welfare, not anti-black.
    I am anti-illegal immigration, not anti-latino.

I am for life, liberty, and property.

  5. I've seen Helen Thomas' statement about the Zionists removing themselves from Palestine and returning to their native countries of Western and Central Europe.

I see no anti-Semitism in that sentiment of any kind.

Is there anyone here that will assert that all Scots in America have return rights to Scotland? All Irishmen to Ireland? No, no rational man or woman would assert that.

The Zionist thugs that run the government of Israel are the sons and daughters of illegal European immigrants to Palestine. Stating that they should return to their own countries is NO different than telling an illegal Mexican immigrants, or the sons and daughters of illegal Mexican immigrants, to return to their native country.

This playing of the anti-Semitic card, much like the race card thrown by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson any time they wish to shield themselves from criticism grows old. The constant use of this perjorative was addressed very well in The Politics of Anti-Semitism by Cockburn and St. Clair. Another excellent source of rational thought about the use of Anti-Semitism when there is none is Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History by Norman Finklestein, both of these are largely written by Jews, for everyone.

Last, we have Max Blumenthal’s Excellent Analysis of Israeli Attack to enlighten us.

    And so it does.

  6. Pat H,

I commend you on setting this straight, though I doubt it will change anyone's mind.

This claim of "anti-Semitism" every time anyone disagrees with actions of Israel is bogus just like the claims of some blacks whenever anyone says anything against certain tactics of so called black leaders.

Ron Paul on Don Immus recently stated things well.

I am tired of trying to fight for truth and may soon avoid reading this site due to its imbalance and sycophant nature to Israeli policy.

I don't hate Jews but I refuse to support lawlessness of goons in Israel or the U.S.

  8. Please note many of the authors of these articles are Jews.

Use of lethal force against unarmed civilians is wrong.

Our unwavering alliance with this wrong-headed regime is costly to us and is a major contributing factor to our troubles in the region.

I will say again, I am not an apologist for Islam but the State of Israel needs to cut this shit out if they ever hope to find a peaceful accord.
