On Friday, former President Bill Clinton gave this speech at a seminar entitled "The Tragedy of Oklahoma City 15 Years Later and the Lessons for Today" held by the Center for American Action Progress Fund.At the bottom of page 10 and top of page 11 of the 12-page transcript of the FPOTUS remarks, there are these paragraphs:

...But I think that all you have to do is to read the paper every day to see how many there are who are deeply, deeply troubled. We know, now, that there are people involved in groups -- these 'hatriot' groups, the Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters, the others -- 99 percent of them will never do anything they shouldn't do. But there are people who advocate violence and anticipate violence.
One of these guys the other day said that all politics is just a prelude to the ultimate and inevitable civil war. You know, I'm a southerner. I know what happened. We were still paying for that 100 years later when I was a kid growing up, in ways large and small. It doesn't take many people to take something like that seriously. So I don't want the whole story of this retrospective just to be about this, and to try to turn everything into politics...

Point in fact: The Ruby Ridge/Weaver murders actually occurred during the Bush I administration, though Clinton did award a medal of service or some damn thing to the deceased federal marshal Degan.

It is also important to remember that old Bill sure knows that words have meaning....and can be distorted to mean anything one wants. See: "it depends on what the meaning of is is" or wagging finger "I did not have sex with that woman" or my favorite "I didn't inhale"
Yes, words have meaning but actions speak louder than words.
Not mitigating the tragedy of OKC bombing but had it not been for the egregious acts of the fed-gov at Waco and Ruby Ridge perhaps OKC would never have happened.
Bill also did an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN yesterday which equated everything going on this weekend to the same kind of hate speech during the time prior to the OKC bombing. During the report they kept showing signs from Tea Party protests and would mix in one of Tim McVeigh & the OKC bombing aftermath every once in a while.

A credible, reputable journalist named Jana Davis has written a well-documented book: THE THIRD TERRORIST. It lays it all out. The blood trail of the Clintonistas is more than just Waco. Uh, the Branch Davidian Raid started in Feb of 1993.
Slick Willy was elected in 1992 and inaugurated in Jan. 1993.

anon @ 2:29, I'd point out that the other anon said Ruby Ridge, NOT Waco. Wiki indicated '92 for Ruby Ridge though, so there does need to be some clarification, but ripping on him for messing up the wrong thing just confuses people.

It is interesting that some seem bent on trying to dump all of the faults of government over-reach of authority (to put it mildly)on one administration. As I stated, this stuff is way past political party lines. It is endemic in the system and indicates to me a total purge is necessary to cleanse the system.
It also indicates to me that we (the patriot/3%/RSC/Teaparty are divided and fractured.
We all need to get past that shit for the sake of the greater goal of liberty and justice for all.
Claire Wolfe has a great piece on that very topic in her blog at BACKWOODS HOME JOURNAL. If I remember the title correctly it is 419/420 ....something. She makes a good point and I am the first poster in the comment section there.
As freedom loving Americans we need to come together and forget our small differences. The enemy is big-gov.

What I remember from American History class somewhere around six decades ago, the Whiskey Rebellion was conducted by moonshiners in Western Pennsylvania somewhere around the Pittsburgh/Johnstown area because they objected to a tax placed upon their whiskey by the U.S. Government. Unless I'm mistaken and I could be, I haven't revisited that incident in our history since then, the whiskey makers were torqued no end that they were being taxed for their product. And, yes, Geo. Washington led troops to the area to quell their rebellion. He did so, killing several of the rebels, and that's the length of my recollection.

ReplyDeleteI understood what the rebels were torqued about, being from that neck of the woods myself. I've felt the same way for most of my adult life.
A Mel Gibson line of dialog from the movie "The Patriot" comes to mind. He was speaking to the South Carolina legislature early in the movie. Something to the effect: why should he trade one tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away. He was describing almost exactly what we face today.
America revolted against the rule of George III in 1776. In the years since, and especially in these last 100 years, we've traded the tyranny of English rule for the tyranny of American rule, for that is exactly what we face. A tyranny visited upon us by a rapacious, insatiable, and murderous government, rule of the mob. Indeed, I quite understand.
