Mission Statement/ FAQ’s
Mission: The mission of the “Restore the Constitution” rally is that it be held at a firearms carry-legal location as close to DC as possible and that it attracts as many participants as possible in order to underscore the seriousness and urgency of a simple message:
Restore the Constitution!
See the planning/networking site Muster Outside DC 4-19-2010 for updates and planning discussions on possible locations.
UPDATE, 1-20-2010:
When: 9AM-5PM, April 19th, 2010 (Monday)
Where: Ft. Hunt National Park, Northern VA
What: “Restore the Constitution” rally/ Muster Outside D.C.
Details: Staging area will be Ft. Hunt National Park, located about 12 miles south of DC. Participants will gather there, and a speaking program will be provided. From there, participants will have the opportunity to travel in small convoys up to Gravelly Point Park so they can “step up to the edge.” Gravelly Point Park is right on the Potomac, about a mile from the National Mall in DC.
Scope: 4-19-10 rally at Gravelly Point Park, Virginia 10:30AM to 5 pm, although park hours are from 8 AM to dark. Gravelly Point is, based on research so far, the closest carry-legal location to DC, although Ft. Hunt will need to be the initial staging area and rendezvous point. Participants can arrive at Ft. Hunt as early as 9AM to get started, and the main speaking program will begin at 10AM, as the convoys begin going back and forth between Ft. Hunt and Gravelly Point.
Updates: Go here for the latest.
Speakers: Under final confirmation; you will want to be there to hear these speakers!

Great hope and possibility here, and let's hope everything will go smoothly. This is the vision of one man, whom we should thank profusely.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff! This will be a civil rights demo and a (remedial) civics lesson that's been long overdue.
ReplyDeleteThis is OUR event, and not being being put on by any politicians or celebrities and is 100% grass roots.
I have watched and read a number of posts by daniel. I think his heart is in the right place but he is sorely mistaken about the impact of such a demonstration.
ReplyDeletePlease forgive my cynicism. Demonstrations dont seem to effect any change.
On the down side, I can see this type of event being a good way for the criminal element in government to: #1- take down license plate numbers and perhaps do a follow up at a time when it is more convenient to them. #2-label this group as seditious, threatening violence and arrest the lot. #3- use the willing tools in the media to portray the group as a bunch of crazies and thereby foment further division among the sheeple.
As far as civil rights, you can keep them. "Civil rights" are nothing more than privileges granted by the ruling civil authority. What I want and what Americans should be demanding is a complete and unmitigated recognition of my/our God given natural rights as enumerated by the Founding Documents.
Parading around with gun on hip is not going to accomplish that and could easily be construed as willfully inciting civil unrest.
What happens if the authorities command you all to cease and desist? Disperse or be arrested? What are you prepared to do in the event it turns that way? What exactly is the remedial civics lesson here?
Anonymous, if you don't think the fullest possible exercise of 1st and 2nd Amendment rights in order to promote Constitutional restoration and to at least VERIFY the current status of our rights is such a good idea, what then do you propose??
ReplyDeleteAs for getting into "what-if-then what" hypotheticals about the event ON HERE, I have no comment. Come on out to the rally, and we can discuss that then and there. Internet postings, especially anonymous ones, are not the forum for such discussions.

ReplyDeleteGood. Let it become clear what the Enemy's intentions are. The wire must, sooner than later, be tripped. Those who hope to avoid bloody conflict are deluding themselves.

Lexington and Concord, anyone?
The disparity of force, and of will and intent, is about the same as in 1776.
Or, it is not which, in that case, I do not give a damn.

Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die.

ReplyDeleteDaniel:
ReplyDeleteI have been watching for a long time and need not "verify" anything further....we have a lawless government and they are trampling all over our inalienable rights....have been for a long time.
Truth be told, if you wanted to propose an armed march of several hundred thousand on Washington, D.C. You might have my support. The district of criminals are in violation of the supreme law of the land. Marching around on the other side of the Potomac seems like a waste of time to me. Not to mention the $100 plus in gasoline to get there.
I stated the possible down side of such a gathering. Now you tell me what the up side might be? Do you think the criminal element in government will suddenly take note and say; "oh my gosh, they have guns! They seem very upset with us for some reason. They also have some rather nasty signs claiming they want Constitutional governance. We need to change our evil ways and repent."? Seriously?
Or more likely they will smugly assert that those demonstrators dont understand this is all for the greater good.
I repeat, YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS (until the ruling civil authority decides to revoke them). I want my God given rights respected and will go on operating under the radar as long as I can.
When the fight comes to me I dont intend to make it easy for them. I will pick my battles and not allow them to round me up several hundred miles from my home base inside enemy territory.
I'll be on the speaking platform. Let them order ME to cease and desist. Mike Vanderboegh

ReplyDeleteAnd to sum the rest, what happens if their tyranny is unveiled?
______________
The principle of the harvest applies. The seed must be planted before any fruit can be harvested. Unfortunately, where the Constitution is concerned, too few seeds have been planted, too few people are tending the crop, too few fruits are being harvested, the fleas and disease are taking over the fields.
On potential tyranny, you could be right. For the sake of freedom, your founding fathers risked it all in the face of unmasked tyranny. Many of them lost it all. Many of them didn't live long enough to enjoy any reward for their courage.
If they play by the rules, then you're in no more danger with us than at home. If their tyranny is unveiled, then you're no safer at home than with us.
I don't know what's going to happen. But I've made my decision and Lord willing, I'll be there. You must also decide; How much will you risk for freedom? Come join us.
Please show me one instance in human history when a civilization has begun the slide down into the muck from its apex and has turned it around to return to glory days? It has not ever happened.
ReplyDeleteSo I suggest this thing is done. Just a matter of time before it all crumbles into rust. Then perhaps the remnant will be able to pull together a suitable republic for our progeny.
Sorry for my deep cynicism. However, I am too old to waste time on demonstrations that seem to be futile. I will hunker down and endeavor to preserve what I can and hope to be among the remnant that has the opportunity to rebuild a properly functioning republic.
Best of luck and Godspeed
Mike Vanderboegh,
ReplyDeleteApparently your fear of the Federal government does not keep you from drawing a Social Security Disability Check. Hypocrite! That is right. Vanderboegh draws a Social Security Disability check. I guess fear only goes so far.

Your keynote speaker, Mike Vanderboegh, is receiving Social Security disability. Speak to this issue!
ReplyDeleteAnon:
ReplyDelete"Speak to this issue!"
OK.
Mike and our other speakers will deliver terrific, inspirational addresses on freedom, courage, and the restoration of the American Republic.
Thanks for stopping by.
You do realize that OBAMA signed the law that lets you open-carry in the actual place you are protesting. OBAMA expanded gun rights more than any president in modern history.

This is a completely paranoia induced, made up cause. No one is taking your guns away. Just admit what this is really about. You are being manipulated.
Restoring the Constitution is a "made up cause"?
ReplyDeleteShirley, you jest?
Will Mike Vanderboegh speak to the nature of physical disability and the check that he receives every month from the Federal Govt? Send back your check Mike "SSI" Vanderboegh.
ReplyDeleteExtra Extra Read all about it!
Hear Mike Vanderboegh rail against the very government from which he draws a Social Security Disability check.
Why is this man not working? This is your spokesman.
Listen to the hypocrite bash the Federal Government while he quietly receives Social Security Disability!
Extra! Extra! Hear Mike Vanderboegh announce if he receives his Social Security Disability check by mail or direct deposit!
Concerned American...
ReplyDeleteYour key note speaker collects a Social Security Disability check from the Federal Government. A real patriot would tear that check up!
Tear it up Mike!
Will Mike Vanderboegh cease and desist from collecting a Social Security check? Certainly, he would collect a check from the Federal Govt would he?
I am calling Concerned Citizen out...He will not speak to the issue of Mike Vanderboegh collecting money from a Federal program. Social Security Disability! He is pocketing tax dollars from a program he rails against! Hypocrisy!
ReplyDeleteSpeak to the issue!
Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Come hear Mike "Social Security Disabilty" Vanderboegh discuss the evil of the Federal Goverment while he collects a monthly Social Security Disability Check.
ReplyDeleteTear up the Check Mike!
Show some pride!
Tear it up Mike!
This is silly. The strongest supporters of this type of rally are the gun industry and their various lobbies, including the NRA. By getting all of you scared and riled up they make more money as you stockpile guns and ammo.
ReplyDeleteI own several handguns and rifles and have no fear that someone is going to come take them from me. Frankly, I don't think the government particularly cares about my guns. But I also think that there are a number of people who are too screwed up to be allowed to own a gun. How about that guy who shot up Virginia Tech? Anybody want to argue why he should have been allowed to own a gun? He was a danger both to himself and to his fellow students.
As for your civics lesson, the fact that you can legally hold this rally shows that you can already do (legally) what you are claiming you want the right to do. If you want to change DC laws, then move to DC and become a political activist to get the laws changed. Otherwise, shut up because it is none of you business.
I am a Liberal and I voted for Obama. I still support him and I support the healthcare bill.
ReplyDeleteI also have a deep respect for the 2nd Amendment and the rights granted under it.
I urge you NOT to march around with your guns. All it will do is make gun-owners look like nuts. Obama has promised no gun control AND HE IS KEEPING THAT PROMISE.

If there is no peaceful means to petition our Government, then that is the time for the citizens to invoke 2nd Amendment.
But in 2008, right-wingers LOST the peaceful, orderly election, they lost it fair and square, by large margins. Marching with guns will not help you win the next election, and may only further alienate voters against gun rights.
Mike Vanderboegh,
ReplyDeleteApparently your fear of the Federal government does not keep you from drawing a Social Security Disability Check. Hypocrite! That is right. Vanderboegh draws a Social Security Disability check. I guess fear only goes so far. Unbelievable

March 2
The Washington Post today has a profile of Mike Vanderboegh, the 57-year-old former militiaman from Alabama who last week posted a call for people to throw bricks through the windows at Democratic offices around the country to protest their votes for Health Care Reform. . . . But Vanderboegh really is a classic exemplar of scream-at-your-TV tea-partyish extremism. A radical libertarian, champion of getting big government off the people's backs, his day job? Vanderboegh lives on government disability checks down outside of Birmingham, Alabama.
ReplyDeleteA new research study shows that nearly 85% of people in the Tea Party are on Government Assistance.
ReplyDeleteEither Unemployment, Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or WIC.
The reason they can spend all day at rallies is because they are collecting checks from the same government they protest. Amazing how naive the average American is.
Amorous: Got a cite for that "study"?
ReplyDeleteOr are you just another fullofcrap troll?
