A grandfather was arrested at dawn and held in a police cell for six hours for using a single swear-word in front of a council official.
Thomas Catcheside, 67, had his fingerprints and DNA taken, before being issued with an £80 fixed-penalty notice.
His arrest followed a dispute with a council official about 'dangerously slippery' communal stairs in his block of flats in Cambridge.

Mr Catcheside, who is chairman of his residents' group, has been campaigning for three years for safety improvements.
But when an official visiting the site prevented him from listening to a phone call to his supervisor on October 30, he finally lost his temper and said: 'Don't you tell me what I can and can't do in my own ****ing place.'
The official complained of feeling 'threatened' and six days later Mr Catcheside was arrested at 5.35am on suspicion of 'causing harassment, alarm or distress in a public place'.
The former lorry driver, still in his dressing gown, was marched into his bedroom, where his wife Deborah, 62, was asleep, and ordered to get changed before being driven away in a police van.
He was then held in a windowless-cell for six hours before being given the fixed-penalty notice and released.
Mr Catcheside, who has asthma and high blood pressure, was so distressed that he suffered a panic attack and had to be seen by a police doctor.
He said: 'My wife and I were asleep when the police arrived. I opened the door and they just barged in.
'I told them to wait a minute but they followed me into my bedroom where my wife was in bed. She was so embarrassed she hid behind a cushion.
'I was frightened and angry as I felt like I was being criminalised. It was so heavy handed...'

Do you think such behavior is not coming to this side of the pond?
Remember -- the Bad People have already made their assessment that Americans, just like their English cousins, will not raise a finger in their own defense.
This sort of heavy-handed nonsense over trivia is a logical consequence of that judgment call.
Weakness begets further predation.
Bet on it -- every time.
"Do you think such behavior is not coming to this side of the pond?"
ReplyDeleteIt IS ALREADY here Peter. Been here for years. Got to experience a similar visist from local law enforcement jack booted thugs.
Our state sponsored domestic terrorists also known as the police and various law enforcement officers do it EVERYDAY in much the same fashion as the Britsh regular "Red Coats" did to the original American colonists.
And YES! I said it!......ANY police or law enforcement officer who commits such an attrocity, violates his or her oath of office, or violates ANYONE's NATURAL BORN RIGHTS IS a STATE SPONSORED DOMESTIC TERRORIST far worse than the likes of Timothy McVeigh.
When are the police going to start policing up their OWN ranks??? They need to get a clue.....take a BIG hint Oath Keepers.....take a look in your own ranks.
ANYONE who is a law enforcement officer either stands WITH us (American citizens who love our nation) or AGAINST us. Choose a side and accept the consequences. There is NO middle ground.
AMEN Defiant III,
ReplyDeleteThe job of the Oath Keepers now needs to be to set it straight among their own ranks. The bullshit that is happening all across our country needs to stop.
No more obeying orders that are illegal.
No more "dynamic entry" raids.
No more stealing the property of non-violent drug users including cannabis growers.
No more stealing the property of those who have made a stand against the unlawful I.R.S.
Asset forfeiture is theft plain and simple.
All those in uniform (police or military) need to take a long hard look in the mirror. Ask yourself this question: Am I serving and protecting the people or am I a thug paid by the state to serve the insatiable appetite of the state?
For God and country please do the right thing.
The armed citizen is the friend of good Peace officers everywhere.
We the people are not your enemy and you are not our masters.
Weakness begets predation.

This already IS happening in the way that "Law Enforcement" interact with us "civilians".
ReplyDeleteHere's an example just today on LRC.
A glance at Codrea's site, Balko's site or the InjusticeEverywhere feed tells you all you need to know.
Episodes like this and Operation Rize tell me that that the Brits have been busy taking notes from their Stateside cousins rather than the other way around...
And ditto DefiantIII on the Oath Keepers
