What remain are the practical battles for survival: David in Federal prison, and his family (above) on the outside trying to hold home and hearts together.

David Olofson has been subjected to a gross miscarriage of justice. What happened to Olofson could happen to any American who owns a semi-automatic firearm.
He was convicted of knowingly transferring an unregistered machine gun -- a standard semi-auto rifle which fired two three-round bursts and then jammed. Gun owners call that a malfunction. The federal government calls it an easy way to get a felony conviction. Olofson was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
David Olofson is an information technology professional with a wife, three children and a mortgage. Until his conviction, he was also in the National Guard.
The Olofson Relief Fund has been set up to allow concerned Americans to help the Olfoson’s make their mortgage and (their one) car payments while Dave is unable to work.

Why would I want to donate money to enable Fudds to keep their heads in the sand?
ReplyDeleteYes, Olofson is innocent of the intent to manufacture a machine gun. Yes, he could be any of us. But now that the court case is over, the family should be denouncing the system that kidnapped him. Declaring that it no longer has their consent. Promising to never vote again. Explaining he was mislead into working for a decade and a half in the State's standing army, expanding the State's power. This whole family seems to want to continue to regard the State as the good guys -- and I don't want to help enable their addiction to illegitimate power over others.
GOA calls it a "gross miscarriage of justice". As if the conviction and punishment of someone who did intend to manufacture a machine gun would be justice? All you small-r Republicans are on the wrong side.
