“Spartacus Explains Why We Effectively Are Under One-Party Rule Now”
Now that the Obama/Pelosi/Reid Looter Party machine has the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate under full control, many of us who want government off our back, out of our wallet, and out of our way (or as I call them, “the Constitutionalists”) look to the Republican Party as our only hope.
We are wrong to do so. I'll explain why below.
Let’s get some fundamental truths out in the open:
1. There is no more Republican versus Democrat. There is only government tyranny versus individual liberty.
2. There is no more Left versus Right. There is only government tyranny versus individual liberty.
3. There is no more Conservative versus Liberal. There is only government tyranny versus individual liberty.
What facts do we have to support these contentions? Well, there are quite a few, but here are the easiest to list:
1. McCain ran a weak campaign in which he told us not to fear his opponent, thus proving that deference to his fellow member of The World’s Most Exclusive Club was more important than other things , such as, say, winning the Presidential election or being the standard-bearer for Republican voters’ values. I would call those McCain’s “other priorities” but I lack sufficient facts to dare say those were priorities at all for McCain.
2. In a transparent “yes-we-can, TOO!” effort, the Republicans have elected as their National Committee chairman Michael Steele of Maryland, who they claim was the most moderate of the candidates for the position, and only appears “conservative” when compared to the Orwellian state of Maryland. But hey, in a first for the RNC, he’s black like the President. (I can only shake my head and wonder how many other fellow admirers of Monty Python’s “The Life Of Brian” see this as the RNC’s “follow the gourd!” moment.)
3. Even a Republican Senator has admitted that his fellow Republican Senators lack the guts to oppose the stimulus bill that will enslave our children for generations to come, and would actively side with the Democrats to override a filibuster.
“U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Tuscaloosa, said he is prepared to filibuster the proposed economic stimulus bill, but fears enough Republicans will side with Senate Democrats to override any attempt to block the bill’s passage. . . . . ‘Are we prepared to filibuster? Hope so,’ Shelby said. ‘But I’m afraid we may have two or three (Republicans) that might jump ship.’”
4. Notoriously anti-gun Eric Holder is confirmed as Obama’s Attorney General, with the assistance of 19 Republicans.
The point is that as we Constitutionalists stand here together today, we must realize a terrifying fact: In the halls of Congress, there is NO MEANINGFUL OPPOSITION to The Looters. The Republican Party is rudderless, leaderless, and bearingless. Their powerbrokers think that the path to regaining credibility with the Right/Conservatives/Republicans is to out-liberal the liberals and out-left the Left. It is sick, sad, and pathetic. But more dangerously, it means the Republican Party is further committing itself to being just another branch of the Looter Party.
From our perspective as Constitutionalists, we need to stop thinking in terms of Left/Right, Conservative/Liberal, and Republican/Democrat. For a long time now, we have thought the “Republican” label automatically meant the candidate stands for low taxes, limited government, less regulation, fiscal responsibility, and gun rights. That is simply no longer the case, and we must realize that the Republican Party at the national level has subscribed to the philosophy of The Looters.
So what is the modern Constitutionalist to do? Well, if the Republican Party won’t listen to you and me, figure out who they will listen to. There appear to be more effective ways of bringing The Looters to heel on the outside of the political system than within it. For example, if there is a non-governmental organization (NGO) they will listen to, and you are a member of that NGO, flood the NGO with calls, faxes, and emails. The NRA comes to mind; they tried to hide from the Holder nomination and only took a position when we called and nagged the NRA-ILA. Imagine if the Life Members of NRA called and threatened to cancel their membership, or to hold public group NRA card-burnings like the draft-card burnings of the Vietnam era…..
Next, find people who think like you on an issue, and get them to “mass their fires” on the issue. For those who don’t know, the U.S. Army field artillery figured out during World War II that instead of assigning one cannon to one target, they were most effective when they fired many cannons at once at the same target, then shifted all those cannons to the next target. One cannon firing 27 times at one target was not nearly as effective as 27 cannons firing all at once at one target. Use the Internet discussion forums to find like-minded people and bring to bear all the faxes, phone calls, and emails you can unleash on a politician -- or an NGO. Remember: No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.
And if you want to know your Representative’s or Senator’s position on an issue, write and ask. They will probably send you as milkwater a response as possible. If they do or if they take the wrong position, scan and post their letter on your favorite discussion forums and request a fire mission of calls, faxes, and emails to that politician.
The worst thing you can do now is to keep supporting Republicans just because they aren’t Democrats.
For years, we thought the Republicans and Democrats were on opposite ends of a rope playing tug-of-war. Instead, the scales have fallen from our eyes and we realize the Republicans and Democrats are making us play jump-rope as fast as we can – and the pace is increasing faster than we can keep up with it.
you could apply a turn of phrase of this nature:
ReplyDelete"we have thought the _____ label automatically meant _____"
...to just about anything.
this is the inherent danger in naming things, especially groups of people, especially your own group. the name itself can quickly become a dirty word, no matter how innocent-sounding it once was, no matter the good intentions of the original founders.
put yourself in the shoes of a Student for a Democratic Society. put yourself in the shoes of a Branch Davidian.
now hand the media the paintbrush.
Perfect. Glad to see people waking up to this.
ReplyDeleteThere's only 1 party. The BS Party. Bought and sold.
Follow the move toward a socialist/fascist order via deregulation and Reagan, the undoing of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 via Bill Clinton and Phil Gramm, the "perfect melding of government and the corporate/businees sector" with the bailouts of last September via Bush, Paulson and the "Dem" Congress. Bipartisanship at it's very best.
Rave on, Spartacus. The 2 party illusion is meant to blind us to the truth that works behind the scenes toward a new feudalism. It's time for America to see who the real villains are and unite.
Republicrats. Two sides of the same coin.
ReplyDeleteWe Libertarian types have been pointing this stuff out for years.
It's nice to see that more and more people are waking up and puking out the kool-aid.
The question is:
Will enough wake up in time to stop and reverse the assaults on our freedoms?
I think we'd be best served if instead of telling everyone that neither party represents us (which is true) we instead decided to go make our presence known at our local party meetings.
ReplyDeleteThere's a huge power vacuum in the Republican party right now gents. I stepped out from that party several years ago but I think I'm headed back in. I've seen a mountain of pathetic out of shape "patriots" who think a box of MRE's and their M1A is going to save them when they can't hump a ruck for 3 miles.
I'm not willing to trust my liberty and that of my daughter to a bunch of fat guys who can't even fit their camo. I'm going to try to do this peacefully instead of throwing my hands in the air and waiting for the lead to fly.
All government decays to tyranny in the long term[1]. There is no such thing as "good government", and anyone who believes so is letting wishful thinking override a dispassionate analysis of the historical evidence[2].
ReplyDeleteFor years, we thought the Republicans and Democrats were on opposite ends of a rope playing tug-of-war.
Perhaps you did, or perhaps you were just using this lie as propaganda. There is only one real axis on the political spectrum: people who are willing to impose a lifestyle on others versus individual liberty.
Anyone who would legitimize majority rule if they were in the majority is not to be trusted. Witness that half of lewrockwell.com's writers went ga-ga over Ron Paul, despite their professed and extensively studied position that there does not and can not exist good government. Witness that Rush, who was so supportive of Bush, now sounds like a Libertarian since his faction of the Looters is no longer top dog.
Ever since current politicians stopped hiding their fascism, there are ever-more Conservatives who are sounding Libertarian. Do I believe these newly awakened Conservatives would repeal anti-abortion, anti-gay, and anti-vice laws if they had the power? Not even a little bit. All you recent "converts" firmly remain part of the statist problem. It may be that awakened Conservatives and the individual liberty-ists can agree long enough to reverse the very worst of the fascisms. I rather doubt it; the Confederacy was as fascist as the Union.

Forgot to mention one thing: McCain voted to approve Holder as Attorney General.

ReplyDeletePlease don't be one of those narrow-minded folks who sees the political realm and the more active realms as mutually exclusive.
I'll bet that 75% or more of the "Threepers" in your AO will support your political activities, so long as there is a reasonable chance for those efforts to bear fruit.
What distinguishes the "prags" from the "Threepers" is that the prags are unwilling to discuss what must be done if/when the political options have failed.
Doing a political jig on a stage controlled by totalitarians is not productive, and I hope you will use your intelligence to make that call between futile activity and the more exciting means of pursuing freedom for all.
Anon-the nature of my job has me listening to the radio daily, including Rush. He never came off as a Bush cheerleader to me.
ReplyDeleteAnon2-I understand and support what you're saying. I just think too many threepers are looking forward to this thing kicking off as if it'll be a cake walk. It also seems like most of those I've noticed that are most excited to get things going are fat guys who are going to be generally useless in a fireteam.
The ugliest aspect of this won't be the us vs. the .gov part; rather it'll be when the .gov is destabalizated and we're trying to put it back together. Even if we restore this government properly there will have to be a Constitutional Convention. All those threepers who have foregone the political route will be incapable of being a part of that because they will be wholly inexperienced in the political process. That leaves people we don't like putting together another compromised document we don't like.
Remember, Washington, Paine, Adams, Jefferson, and Hamilton all mentioned in their later years how the country they helped create was not the creature they intended her to be. So too will it be with us if we forego politics.
The final point to note is that while government is always an evil, we are going to have to deal with one. Anarchy will only give us a Napoleon. This is no such thing as a perfectly written charter and even if I left you to create one that you think is perfect, it will eventually be perverted by those in power seeking to centralize it. Jefferson referred to our Constitution as a mere paper barrier.
It then is the people, not the system of government. We need to put good men in government and resort to violence only when the system keeps them out of their rightfully earned positions.
The point is, don't rush to a conflict. It's going to be much different than the romantic ideals most threepers have.
Anon- I forgot to hit the main point directly. I get long-winded. Support of my political endevors by other threepers is good, but what is needed is less their support and more them running for office themselves.

Perhaps, but the Ron Paul folks tried to breath new life into the GOP at every level, attempting to bring it back toward real conservative principles, and especially at the local level over the past year and a half.
Rather than welcoming the new blood, the old guard in the local party organizations did all they could to run the Ron Paul folks away, insulting them, cheating at conventions, etc. even though it cost them elections.
I'm not saying you shouldn't try, but don't expect much to change. The GOP is rotten from the inside out, but the rotten zombies are still sitting in their places of power, and hold onto it with a death-grip. They long ago forgot what "conservative" means, but they still love the power and guard it jealously.
I think long before you will reform the GOP, events will make them obsolete.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The longer a politician is a politician the worse they get. What ever label they use, I would rather see fresh young blood then the same career politicians again and again. If I were KING for a day, I would set term limits for Congress and Senate, and expect that to double the life span of the Continental Congress's test of independent democracy.

ReplyDeleteI'd be very happy to publish essays on both of your key points:
1) How rough will be the coming conflict
2) How the aftermath will need principled political leadership

This has been my recent experience with the Republican Party at the local grassroots level. They would rather go down in flames with their ideologically loyal buddies than allow outsiders with new ideas onboard.
John Paulding, you make some very sweeping statements about the three percent, and they betray your ignorance of who is involved.
Spartacus - I pray you are correct sir.
ReplyDeleteCA- I'll see what I can cook up for you this weekend.
