NRA on Holder
From David Hardy comes this copy of the NRA letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee on AG-nominee Eric Holder.
Read it, then call the Judiciary Committee members per JR's list.
Here's substance for your opposition calls, letters, and faxes from David, as well as how the NRA's Lairds of Fairfax have harmed as much or more as they have helped by this missive.
Keep hammering.
UPDATE: As David points out in his comment below, read the NRA's letter closely and note how they are arguing (at the bottom of page 2 and top of page 3 of their letter) that Holder is not aggressive enough on enforcing existing gun laws.
Lairds of Fairfax, indeed.
Only this time, we peasants will all share in William Wallace's fate.
UPDATE #2: Read Straightarrow's comment from David's post:
Here's what I had to say about this over at Uncle's this morning.
"I notice in the letter that NRA claims success for Project Exile in Richmond, Va. and Philadelphia,Pa., gun control legislation that NRA wrote and lobbied for.
Project Exile has been an abject failure in both instances. Just an observation as to the self-serving nature of their analytical proclivities.
I am glad that they finally spoke about Holder’s nomination. But their response is rather tepid and way late. Where was the call for the membership to inundate their senators with their opposition to Holder? Where was the sustained effort to dislodge this abomination from the moment of his selection? Where was the call for the membership to make their displeasure and subsequent reaction at future elections should this nomination succeed?
Sorry, but for me, this doesn’t get them a pass. This was a wink and a nod. Sort of their way of saying “Hey look, we must do this to appease some of our membership and continue in power here. Pay it no mind. We stand ready to cooperate with you.”
I know a great many of you will dismiss what I have just said. Just wait until after Holder is confirmed and see how much they do cooperate. Then you can really be angry with me seeing it early."
NRA is engaging in some very disingenuous maneuvering here...
ReplyDeleteOne of their primary objections is that Holder wasn't a strong enough supporter of enforcing federal gun laws!
It's important we make sure people aren't taken in by this.
Its obvious to me that the NRA is in reality a gun control organization pretending to be a gun rights organization-a deep cover operation who falls on cue and gets pinned in political "battles" that are but scripted pro-wrestling.
ReplyDeleteJoin the JPFO or Gun Owners of America, or stage a membership led clean sweep of the NRA's traitors.

I see the NRA expressing "serious concern" and "substantial concern" but nothing saying "we oppose him."
ReplyDeleteDoes the NRA lack even the guts to say they "strenously object?"
SOP for the NRA. Slithering, dithering, posturing and having little to no effect, except to go for some headlines to tug on the leadrope around the masses necks. And some of them seem to like it!?!
ReplyDeleteGOA and JPFO are two orgs that say it, and then DO IT. Who's supporting Mr. Olofson AND his family right now? It ain't the huge and wealthy NRA, it's the GOA!
If Holder gets aHOLD of this office there will be many more D Olofson's at the Hotel Federale.
