What Is To Be Done: Resolving the Irreconcilable

Look at this map.

Think about what it means -- although to do so, one must make the questionable assumption that a red-county vote for McCain can be interpreted as a vote for less government.

On the other hand, it is a safe assumption that a blue-county vote for Obama is a vote for more and more and more government.

It is also safe to assume, given recent population shifts, that many people are voting with their feet, families, belongings, and wallets to move from the blue counties to the red counties.

Imagine a world where the Federal Government's role was greatly circumscribed by -- I don't know -- how about a list of things that it could do?

Every other function that was not expressly delegated to the Federal Government would be the exclusive domain of the American people and their state/local employee/representatives in the various legislatures and executive branches across the land.

At present, I cannot articulate a rational path from where we are today to that world of limited and largely local government.

But with more and more people awakening to both the scope of October's coup d'etat and its corrupt nature, the FedGov, under both its current lame-duck kleptocrats and its incoming Marxist wealth-redistributors, will not be able to continue business as usual.

Remember -- the FedGov needs to borrow more than $400 billion each year in order to meet its obligations. Bloomberg reports that one analyst sees $1 trillion/year deficits starting in budget year 2009. That article also notes that

"the U.S. budget deficit last month exceeded the shortfall for President George W. Bush's first full year in office, spurred by purchases of stakes of some of the nation's largest banks."

Remember also that the current FedGov debt is more than $10.578 trillion, onto which each year's deficit is added.

Would you take a promissory note from a bunch of deadbeats like the FedGov?

That's what the US Treasury asks the world's investors to do each time it auctions Treasury notes.

What happens when the Treasury Department holds an auction and gets no bidders?

And state governments? Please. They're sunk, even before the FedGov goes Tango Uniform.

What happens in all of those blue counties when all of the Looters (government employee and welfare recipient alike) don't get their checks?

What happens in all of those red counties when the angry and desperate Looters from the blue counties start to swarm across the county line?

Lesson?

Learn where your county stands, then make your plans accordingly.

The average American is going to get a heaping helping of limited, largely local government when the FedGov's creditors decide that it's time to stop serving Uncle Sam.

Alea iacta est.

  1. Let's imagine: In the finest of all possible worlds, Barry recognizes that he is over his head, reads the BOR, and discovers that pushing the 10th amendment is his only way out in order to salvage his legacy that hasn't even started. Yet.

OK, that won't happen. But look at that sea of red on the map. Admire Oklahoma as all red, and look at their election laws. They actually require ID to vote. Early voting lasts for only about five days or so IIRC.

Then look at how close races are being stolen in the election's wake.

One set of looters (call them the GOP) is only marginally better than the other set. But I think I can safely say that the supporters of our set of looters are much less motivated to go out and get out the votes of non-resident and dead people than is the other side. Nor do we lurk at polling places in Black Panther uniforms.

So we have come up to a time in this country when elections really do not matter much. Our side dislikes our slate of trough-feeders just as much as the other side loves theirs. You can guess which side is going to have more volunteers.

At this point it's far too late to think about changing your AO which has gone bad. Might look harder at the above map and figure out where to make your next stand.

    Watch yer topknot.

  2. That strip of blue going from Alabama to DC is strange. Why is that?

  3. CA,
That's why I pulled stakes and moved closer to where I was born and raised.

Not much has changed in the last 40 years where I am now. Like minded folks and all.

They still take care and look out for one another.(and I know where all the mineshafts and DEEP holes are)

Uh ... didn't you notice? Exactly that happened on Nov 10:

8% bid to cover. The previous three were in the 75%-90% range. Previous to that, it was all well above 100%.

  6. Well, no wonder the left is so obsessed about the fiction of global warming and rising water levels. If, by some chance, the water levels really did rise, most of them would be swept away due to their concentration along the coasts! Maybe I will be a little heavier on the gas pedal, increasing my carbon footprint until it's so big that it just kicks them all into the sea.

Well, I can't speak for the other states but that blue strip of Alabama is what we call the "Black Belt", counties where the residuum of slavery left a majority black population. In some of those counties, there are more people registered to vote than live there. What's that tell you?

  8. We can't save everyone-half of America won't WANT to be saved!

We can save ourselves; be self-sufficient in all things, hone our marksmanship, establish contacts who stay in the cities to funnel people and items more common in the city than the country out.

Also, get together and start holding emergency recall elections-find the most corrupt small town you can that have citizens pissed off at them and sweep them out! Be an example and spark the same in surrounding towns so you can take your county government. Repeat in surrounding counties and take back states, even if their governments go bankrupt and the federal government takes them over.

Resistance isn't futile, it's victory in and of itself.

    December 31, 2004

Year's end is the time for big thoughts, so here are mine. The most significant socio-political shift in our time has gone almost completely unremarked, and even unnoticed. It is the dramatic shift of the red-state bourgeoisie from leave-us-alone libertarianism, manifested in the Congressional elections of 1994, to almost totalitarian statist nationalism. Whereas the conservative middle class once cheered the circumscribing of the federal government, it now celebrates power and adores the central state, particularly its military wing.

Assuming that "a red-county vote for McCain can be interpreted as a vote for less government" is an outrageous assumption, the worst sort of contra-factual wishing-will-make-it-so insanity.

Imagine a world where the Federal Government's role was greatly circumscribed by -- I don't know -- how about a list of things that it could do?

I can't imagine that. Historically, every constitution has failed. The US Constitution failed quickly with the Whiskey Rebellion and the Alien and Sedition Acts. The constitutions of Mao's China, Soviet Russia, or Wiemar Germany did not prevent the subsequent genocides.

At present, I cannot articulate a rational path from where we are today to that world of limited and largely local government.

I can. Support open source communication-improving efforts like the Google phone. Construct an electronic marketplace with enough privacy and anonymity, provided by encryption and traffic-analysis foiling, that the "black" (free) market displaces the "open" market. A market where meddlers cannot extract the $250K end-of-life medical care that retirees are "entitled" to, cannot skim off money to reenact the Crusades with modern weapons, and cannot interfere with deals for drugs and late-term abortion. If you won't do that, you hate them because they're free.

The red and blue county voters disagree over whether Jehovah or Government should be worshipped as God, but they agree on welfare and warfare. The red county voters will raise property taxes and invent Civilian Conservation Core/Works Progress Administration type "jobs" until the blue county residents feel no desire to leave.

The true contending parties will be the 3%'ers, whose demonstrated willingness to be self-sufficient makes them Libertarian, and the rest, who are Nationalistic and Socialist. That label is a bit long and unwieldy, perhaps we can invent a shorter name for National Socialists?
