Quote of the Day
Do you really think we want those laws to be observed? We want them broken. There is no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking the law. Create a nation of lawbreakers and then you can cash in on the guilt. Now that's the system! - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, 1957
Cited by Kevin in his discussion of the Massachusetts empty cartridge case expulsion matter. Read the whole thing at his place, and weep for the cradle of the American Revolution.
And that law cited in defense of the school district?
Obeyed by the same type of folks who keep mattress tags attached for fear of prosecution.
Baaah, baaah, baaah....
Tempus fugit.
Very nice to see that lady's face on your blog. Many of us use your quote regarding making laws enough to make everybody a criminal...but I wonder if you could find the chapter in the book. Have waded thru it several times, would recommend to anybody... but if a person these days was to read it and WAKE UP NOW it would be too much of a shock for them. Me reading it thirty years ago has helped me. What's it going to help a newbie these days, as he may finally and shockingly get some groundwork to base what he sees in daily life?

(This is what I have saved as the location of the quote, but I've not checked it lately so YMMV.)
