Just look at the national record number of firearm and ammo purchases just prior to the election and through today. There is a silent majority who can backup their words if forced by anti-2nd Amendment forces. I for one believe I am one of the Sipsey Street irregulars or in the" three-percenters" as espoused by Mike Vanderbeough in his book :"Absolved". The anti-gunners need to heed the words of Mike Vanderbeogh. He touches on a new awakening in the silent majority with a resolve to keep our GOD given rights as spelled out in the U.S. Constitution.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-81386201701114944332008-11-02T05:18:00.000+00:002008-11-02T05:18:00.000+00:00Anonymous:Carl Drega simply didn't have enough tac...Anonymous:

Carl Drega simply didn't have enough tactical knowledge, and didn't stop to think, is all.

A good lone guerilla will fire, at most, five rounds at the enemy, and then skedadle to a long prepared safe house or location.

Carl went nuts, and tried to take all of his enemies at once, while driving around a vehicle registered in his own name. Have you learned nothing from history? It is made by determined minorities. We may be a minority but we are determined. If you want to hang onto ANY of your guns or other liberties, you will HAVE to fight. We will make sure of that."

I'm sure that everyone remembers the Beltway "snipers" of a few years ago. 2 idiotic murderers - one a kid with no training or particular skills, the other a moron with an average semi-auto firing one or two poodle rounds at a time. These guys nearly paralyzed large parts of the DC Metro area for a couple of weeks, and murdered 10 innocents and wounded a few more over that span.

I don't sympathyze or agree with anything that they did. But what they did was, in some ways, instructive.

There were many thousands of police officers, plus FBI and BATF agents, plus military recon planes looking for these guys. They carelessly left brass at the shooting sites, left notes, made phone calls to the police, etc., etc. No serious attempt to conceal themselves, to disguise themselves, to use different cars, paint the car, use different license plates, etc., etc., etc.

AND THESE IMBECILES, POORLY EQUIPPED AND CARELESS/STUPID AS THEY WERE, NEARLY PARALYZED A METROPOLITAN AREA FOR 2 WEEKS!

What would people with better equipment, more lethal ammo, better training, better discipline, high motivation NOT to be caught, etc., etc., be able to do? Especially if they numbered in the tens or hundreds of thousands?

I could easily see commerce completely disrupted - no food or fuel being transported into large cities, for example. All some sufficiently motivated person would need to do is shoot up a few trucks, and have a warning passed to a news outlet or posted on the right Internet site. Other people, even if operating completely apart from the first, could easily emulate such tactics. The truckers would refuse to drive, and who would blame them?

How long before several cities turn into hungry, pissed-off re-creations of cities that have suffered from power outages, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc., etc.?

What happens if some highly ticked-off and highly-motivated (maybe because he or she lost a loved one to a new tyranny) citizen decided to rapidly deliver a bit of copper-jacketed lead to a particular agent of the government or media that is (in their view) the cause of their being ticked off - and then disappears into the woodwork? What about 10 or 20, and it starts getting reported, serving as inspiration to others who are similarly motivated? As MBV pointed out, the other side runs out of people first - and in attempting to crack down, the other side creates more of its own opponents.

None of the above is anything more than a line of thought, hypothetical questions for its readers to ponder. There wasn't, isn't and never will be any intent to foment illegal violence against any person or property. It is purely a mind game.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-59706257151943337512008-10-30T17:22:00.000+00:002008-10-30T17:22:00.000+00:00Concerned American makes a good point, and one cou...Concerned American makes a good point, and one could add moles and provocateurs to collaborators and informants. I tried to educate here about the fact that they are functionally no different from many hunting rifles, etc., but she kept talking about how many people were killed with them and the police should just collect them all and destroy them. I stunned her into silence when I told her that if such confiscations ever started, her baby brother would be one of the ones killed by the cops.

She has since done some reading (starting with Nemerov's "400 Years Of Gun Control, Why Isn't It Working?" and working on from there) and concedes that maybe an outright gun ban wouldn't be such a good idea after all.

Hoping for peace, but preparing for war.

Bruce W. It was more important than the writings of the Jacobin-influenced and relative newcomer to the Colonies at the time, Thomas Paine.

The significance of this book being important is that the Colonists insisted upon a solid framework of law (in this case, the doctrine of interposition which our corrupt judiciary has now gutted) upon which to base secession from the British Empire backed up by physical resistance.

When will we have such a legal basis to resist the federal leviathan in modern times? I haven't come to any conclusions as I am still reading the book and judging whether we have taken every legal means within the system to resist.

Of course, the judge in the Berg lawsuit regarding Obama's eligibility gives me great pause.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-43520626577081734012008-10-30T15:26:00.000+00:002008-10-30T15:26:00.000+00:00jeff's clearly captured the sentiment of the lande...jeff's clearly captured the sentiment of the landed, voting, family man with the $3500 rifle one might see every saturday at the range.

the one that looks like he stepped out of an LL Bean catalog right onto the firing line, and plopped himself down at the bench.

when those rifles are locked up at the local police station -- never to see the light of day, except when aimed at your friends and relatives -- they're fair game.jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02615104086703717817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-2201585685798142822008-10-30T04:46:00.000+00:002008-10-30T04:46:00.000+00:00"I don't expect to live to see it end."Hopefully w..."I don't expect to live to see it end."
Hopefully we are both wrong on that mindset.
Sic vis pacem para bellum

"History teaches that war begins when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap" Ronald Reagan

Jason
IIIJay21https://www.blogger.com/profile/13800050699809897529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-8649607428870938862008-10-30T03:26:00.000+00:002008-10-30T03:26:00.000+00:00Problem is that the Zumbo/Fudds pose a clear and p...Problem is that the Zumbo/Fudds pose a clear and present danger to any Sipsey Streeter.

They'll squeal instantly when their tit is put into the wringer by DHS/FBI/BATF/local sheriff.

Or, worse yet, they'll rat you out in a heartbeat to "keep the crazies from doing something stupid."

And don't think members of your family, your spouse's family, and several of your neighbors don't already fall into that category.

Collaborators/informants are a really serious threat, and, based on his "give peace a chance" essay, young Knox will be hard-pressed to be viewed as anything but that once the Obamites start their little rodeo.Concerned Americanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05257709418390025182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-47337891967465292502008-10-30T03:25:00.000+00:002008-10-30T03:25:00.000+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.Concerned Americanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05257709418390025182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469109905542911409.post-47490279002330368192008-10-30T03:13:00.000+00:002008-10-30T03:13:00.000+00:00Don't be too hard on him, Mike.
